Henro, what "caused" me to buy the car was the kick-butt stereo system that can be heard over the wind noise when the top is down. The price was the incentive for that particular car. The HST in Volvo terms was the designation for the high pressue turbocharger version on that car. It was also available in a low pressure turbo, but hey, if you are going to go, you might as well go FAST! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

In fact that status as an orphan brand is probably going to help with price.

Well, the sticker price is $22,450 on the one we are looking at... the salesman said he would let it go for $14,999.

Do you have the name of this dealership or a website? It might give me some leverage to get the price down some more at my local dealer.
Looks like TBN members help me out again!

I did a google search and found an article from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch from about a month ago, reporting that 12 months after the last Oldsmobiles rolled off the line, there were 884 left on dealership lots at that time.

Broome Olds GMC in KC.........

I made a call as they don't have a web page - these are "program" cars, not new ones, sorry.

There are dealerships locally selling 2004 Aleros for $9995 also, and 2004 Tauruses too, for the same price.

Aren't "program" cars just another way of saying that they are one year old former rental cars with 29,000 miles ?

Rentals or formerly used by factory reps to visit the dealerships and sort out warranty issues /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I used to see a GM factory rep in an area dealer with a Michigan plate that said "manufacturer" on it.
Program cars are also used for publicity purposes. When Buick sponsers the Buick Golf Open, the local dealers supply and then sell the cars after the golfers get done with them. Same with what used to be the Pontiac Nationals NHRA event.
