Indoor Pollution from Gas Stoves

In the past, we've had gas ranges and thought they were superior to electric stoves. However, about 10 years ago we switched to an induction range and I think it's ideal. Instant control of heat input and no flame.

A vent hood that actually vents outside is truly a life changing appliance. Why even bother with the ones that just re circulate through the room?

Agreed. The house we moved into recently had a recirculating hood. Part of the renovation process was installing a vented hood with about 3x the cfm of the average low rent 30" hood. Not making that improvement was never considered.

Retaining the 25 year old windows completed our effort to maintain good quality air indoors. :):)

Those at least have filters. Better than nothing.

Not much. The end result is the same. Every time you fry bacon the house is still smokey and stinks.

Amazing all the problems that seem to crop up when peoples houses are too tight. Doesn't people health account for something over energy savings?

I don’t know how to fry bacon without it smoking some.

Even if it doesn't smoke a recirc hood will have the whole house stinking like bacon.
And then there is fish..........
A recirc hood does exactly zero for CO and NO concentration.

First, bacon doesn't stink... it's heaven scent.

A recirculating hood will catch particulate, which also causes lung damage as well as accumulates on walls and ceilings. It won't do anything for the gases, though, and I agree on that.

It might catch a small percentage of oil from the smoke but it’s useless against smoke.
