hi, looking forward to experienced talent and knowledge from fellow equipment wrenchers:) my first question is of a rotary brush hog gearbox replacement, there are several output speeds available for my application of which mine is currently the 1.93 ratio according to my calculations, there are 1.46 ratio available in like mounts, i only have a 540rpm pto output speed. is there a reason for considering the slower speed in general use of brush hogging small sappling/field brush/established trails?
is the slower box designed for a 2speed pto output? thanks for your time

Usually the ratio is about getting proper torque and blade speed of the flywheel so power can be maintained when your blades hit larger brush and it small trees.

If your unit has 1.93 you just as well should replace it with the same gearbox

I'm going to defer to mmancuso13's wisdom on this one!
:tractor: I'm also going to move this thread over to our attachments section :)
