injector oil question

I would need to see a wider view picture to be sure.
Me too. I haven't actually spent much time on the Foton engines. But the "engine oil cover" label seems misplaced too. Just doesn't seem right to add engine oil to the pump drive housing - especially if the 3rd braided line is actually carrying engine oil to lube the pump.

Then again, those two photos are from Scandinavia - meaning that Euro spec Fotons may have an entirely different pump lube design than do North American spec Fotons.

Foton FT404 tractor:
Manufacturing code: TB404-X161Y1C-QP
Identification number: TB085058N

It is equipped with a diesel engine from Zhejiang Xinchai Diesel Engine Co., Ltd:
Engine Type: C490BT1
Engine Family: C490BPG
Serial Number: C490BT1*0844890*

As seen on this picture the injector pump is connected from the main engine and oil pressure lubricated from the engine sump. I think all modern injectors and engines are made this way nowadays.

By the way, adding oil to the engine can be done also from the labeled oil cover, it all ends up in the engines oil sump, which level can be measured on the engines dipstick.

Maybe I can help a little wth a translation - not from a linguistics standpoint, but from my own experience and knowledge (not trying to be a know-it-all ;)).

Note: The Banjo bolt on the bottom of the lift pump (double fitting) contains a 10µ screen that needs to be checked and cleaned at least at every fuel filter change.

Greg: That's the accessory drive train. My TY395 has a place to add oil there also, in fact that would be the recommended place - to keep from flooding the valve stems.

-Your most welcome, thanks for your elaborated annotation.

Furthermore, I've just learned that the model number of the Fuel Injector Pump is 4QT257BD-1 on our C490BT1 and that most of the Zhejiang Xinchai engines are changing from the old type of injection pumps which are with isolated lubrication system to the new types with through engine oil lubrication system.

Excellent news. Of all the diesels I've owned or operated over the last 25 years, only the (4) Chinese tractors had injection pumps that were not engine-oiled. Even my 70s vintage Yanmar was engine oiled. I'm glad that ZX seems to have now taken the lead. It's hopefully the first step in remedying what's long been a chronic Chinese compact tractor design shortcoming

The locomotive pneumatic govenors were gone when I started on the rail road 40 years ago. They are now electric with 8 set engine speeds. Most new locomotives are AC driven traction motors. The 4 cycle engines that are 6000 HP are limons and are being fased out. No constant speed engines..........Larry
