Anyone give me some instructions on removing injectors on YM1700?

Thanks

Once you remove the nuts and the flange, there is nothing but gravity and crud holding them in, usually more crud than gravity. You just have to get after them with penetrating oil and whatever else comes to mind, like oven cleaner.

i second what norm said its really pretty easy just make sure you clean the crud off

I have heard, but never tried: For really stubborn injectors leave the cap and nuts on slightly loose, and turn the engine over. The compression will blow the injector loose from it's seat.

Has anyone ever tried this? I have yet to try this as I have always been able to soak overnight and wrestle them free the next morning.

I have heard that also, Mark, except that Eddie has his engine apart.

It's on it's way back together now. Got pistons back in with new rings, waiting for machine shop to grind valves and install new valve seals.

It's getting a new water pump too, make it run a little cooler!!!!!!

Ask the machine shop to remove the injectors if you really need them out. They have ways and means. Probably a good idea anyway, then re-install with "antisieze".

Norm or others,

Do these injectors have an o-ring seal? I have a 1700 and the rear injector (closest to driver seat) is starting to leak. When the tractor is running; you can see little bubbles at the head and you can tell where it has over time run down the side of the motor.

The tractor runs fine, but little things like this annoy me.

I did ask the machine shop to get them out, I think they have a copper washer that seals them.

I don't think the little copper piece actually holds them in place. I think it more like seals them. But, I've never worked on the exact particular injectors you're talking about. In general, they just have a little detent check ball to keep them aligned in the hole, and then the nut holds them down in place. On the ones I've worked on, some have had threads on the outside of the injector. I have an injector puller that is sort of like a slide hammer of sorts. You screw the one part on the injector and then use the slide hammer action to pop them out. Obviously, yours may be different. Some really suck when they are so stuck that the injector puller just rips the threads off of them. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
