You can order the washers from any Yanmar parts dealer, called conbustion chamber washer or packing, about $1 each.

The YM1700 has 2 copper washers & 1 insulator washer, you have to remove the front pre-combustion to replace 1 of the copper washers.

Try blowing around the outside of the injector with a high pressure air hose, that's how we get them to loosen up.

Danny,

I will have to confirm, but I think it is leaking below the injector right were it goes into the head. I looked at Hoye's web site at the exploded breakdown and I do not see anything below it. Am I missing something here?

I need to quit being a d*** money miser and buy a repair manual! Mine is a recon unit (I'm sure from Viet) but luckily I have had no problems since I purchased. This is not effecting the way it runs; I'm just tired of the desiel stain on the motor and it annoys me just knowing it is leaking. I tend to be a perfectionist.

When I got mine, it was leaking just a very little bit, where the line goes in. I tightened the nut a little as that was all I could and it stopped it.

Yep, I see item # 33, gasket, chamber, part # 1004900-11450, $1, (part of the head blowup).

Thanks Dick & Norm,

I have wrenched on the two nuts holding the injector in, but I do not want to push my luck on making it worse or breaking something.

I should have thought to look at the breakdown on the head to see if there was something there.

Thanks guys!

The head has to be off in order to drive the pre combustion out of the head.

When I had a YM2000 head at a shop I asked them to remove the chambers. They put it in a press and totally mashed one and gave up. I put the head on a bench and soaked it daily with PB Blaster. After a few days a tap with a brass hammer and it dropped right out.

I use an old impact socket that is about the same size as the chamber, place the nut side of the socket on the chamber and hit it with a hammer and it comes right out.
