Insecticide questions

What, you don't like creatures burrowing into your skin and sucking your blood? I think your in the "freek-out" stage of tick feardom. Let me guess, you look down at your ankles about every 10 seconds while outside, wondering if another has gotten on you. When you get one on you, you get kinda mad, "****, their's another one, their everywhere."

I've been there, it sucks. Don't worry, you will get over your "freak-out" stage. The ticks may never go away, but things will get much better when, over time, your perception of the problem changes.

On a practical note, your plan sounds like agood one. Keep the grass short, and treat the foundation if you want, however ticks don't come inside on their own. They need to be outside to hunt. The hen's are a great idea, but not practical for a vacation house. Tics will become less of a problem as the heat of summer rises. They thrive in the first few warm weeks of spring & early summer.

( DrBob - where around WI do you get permanone? Is there a common brand name for it. )

I got all mine from the U.S. Army /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. Seriously, it is also caled permethrin (if my memory has not failed.

Here is a link http://www.permethrin-repellent.com/products.htm. I am not suggesting that this is where you buy it, just something i quickly found to help. Do a search on the internet for permethrin and you will find out all sorts of good stuff. let me know if I can help you and how things turn out. I hate ticks as much as anyone. In Nicaragua, it worked on all the creepy crawlers. everyone who "failed" to treat their uniforms was unhappy. Me? I just smiled and showed them how to treat everything! I made a lot of converts during my Nicaragua tour.

Remember, do not put it on your skin and do not treat clothing that comes not direct contact with your skin. The stuff on skin can cause a rash! Nothing fatal, but a rash you won't like. I had one soldier who failed to listen and sprayed it on his skin. OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He was my poster child on what not to do.

Thanks for the info. Spouse found a tick Sunday and went into freak-out mode. She's the one most often out in the boonies. I just go to work to pay for the boonies.

In what part of WI are you located?
