Hi All
Would someone please, tell me step by step how to insert Pictures in a post.
I have some pictures of how I mounted a toolbox on a JD 790 I would like to share. For the life of me I can not figure out how to post the pictures. I have been messing with the Manage Attachment feature but can't get it to work.
Thanks
Ray

Here we go, below Is a cut and pasted copy of one of my post earlier with the similar questions. I know no good deed would ever go unpunished but had another member telling me " I'll be cursed since I force people to download my pics", LOL. The method below by the way would require no resource from TBN, and I reckon that is a good thing.:)

Text of my earlier post below;

Well, I reckon I'm about to chime in. It is pretty easy task.

1) Register with one of many picture hosting sites for free. These are the places that you can upload your pics free for one pic at a time or batch uploading for a nominal fee (maybe arm and leg ). it is pretty easy and painless. it'll take an email adress, the site will leave a cookie (not chocolate variety but an identification of you on your computer). When you go to their website it allows you to upload.

2) After uploading your pic it would allow you different types of links in order to have access to the picture. For example they offer a link for forum posting. Highlight the link and right click copy it.

3) when you want to add a pic to your post, put the cursor where you want and paste the link and when you submit your reply the picture shows up. Pure magic.

By the way, that is the most efficient way of doing it as no TBN forum resources will be used and pictures are available to member without downloading and it is quite fast.

I'm done chiming now. Below please find below link for a registration host if you like to give it a go.

There are many ways to do it, this is just one of them. Below is a link that shows how the pictures turn out in a post using the method 3RRL describes below:

I can help you with the pic thumb and pic. This is from of 3RRL

Sorry to get off track from the original thread... but I'll try to answer this. It might help other TBN members?
First, I always resize the pictures in my computer so they are not too big for dial-up members. I went to this site to get a free Microsoft image resizer. Free Image Resizer Once installed, it is very easy to use and automatically pops up as an option when you right mouse click on a picture in your computer. Then you "re-size" the picture. If you search the web, there are several free image re-sizers to choose from.

Then you can go to this site to get a free web host for your pictures. I use Photobucket...it's free. Free Image and Video Hosting - Photo Image Hosting Site : Photobucket.com

Open an account and upload your re-sized images. There are all kinds of things you can do. I make a folder for each topic and upload my photos into that folder. Just follow the directions...it's pretty easy once you get used to it.
Once the picture is uploaded, it will appear in your account. Directly below the thumbnail photo is a square box (on the left below the thumbnail). Check that box and scroll down to the bottom of the page. There will be several buttons...choose the one on the far right that says "Generate HTML and IMG code" and click it.
Then a new screen appears with several rectangles...go to the third one down that says "IMG clickable thumbnails for message boards - recommended" and right mouseclick on that.
Also log onto TBN and make a post. Then copy that and paste the stuff from Photobucket into the post you are replying to. If you do it right, when you preview your post, it will show up as a "clickable thumbnail" like mine do. You can (should have) both browsers open ...one logged into Photobucket and for TBN so you can work between the two. Try that.

yes, if you use the forum utility attachement tool. If you upload the pictures say using " Imageshack" for example, then you have the ability to add pics to your post in varirty of ways such as thumbnail, web posting or forum posting. any way you do it you need to let the program know where the picture residing on your hard drive.

Got me, maybe something in AOL. Can you try it outside of AOL in a new browser window?

I'm on AOL dialup so it'll work. To INSERT the pic in the post try this ..

First go and put your pics in the TBN photo gallery. If you have problems there you can't go further, come back and tell the problem.

After they are in the gallery click on the thumb. You should now have a larger photo, then right click on the photo (hold the button) and you'll have a menu pop up. Click the "open in new window" or something like that.

Copy that address (http:// .. ) Then paste that address in the post you want the pics to show. Now you must put this at the front of the address

Me thinks you are making this far to hard.
1. type the text.
2. click manage attachments.
3. Click browse
4 select the picture that you want from your computer files
5. Click open. Click upload. Do this for all pictures you wish to attach
6. Click close window
7. click preview post
8. The attached files will be visable right above the Manage Attachments block.

9. click Submit
