OK folks, two weeks ago my 4310 was a mere mortal compact tractor with only dual mid scv and then I installed a 3rd scv. Tonight I finished installation of the power beyond. When I asked the dealer some questions about the installation process he said "you are putting a 3rd scv and power beyond on a 4310" "I have never seen that much hydraulic equipment on a 4310". To which I replied "you ain't never dealt with me before, ha ha ha!"

OK back to our story. The instructions were not as clear as those that came with the snap together model cars I assembled of my youth, but good enough to get the job done. On the 3rd scv you were instructed to remove the tire, fender, seat, and seat panel. Of course I found a couple other things to make the job easier. This time the instructions were to remove the seat only. I ended up loosening the seat panel to give my 30mm wrench a little extra room to work. By the way, a 30mm combination wrench will run you $20 at Sears. If you can get a hold of a 30mm line wrench it will make the installation a lot easier. Not easy, just easier.

I forgot one thing. There was one linkage that I removed to make removal of the original hydraulic line easier. It is a linkage that tell the tractor what position the 3 point is at. I removed the snap ring that holds it on at the three point end. This is on the left side under the seat. It is the piece being pointed at with the screw driver.

Everything was going great until I tried to install the last hydraulic line Tuesday night. It wasn't there! The last part was a hydraulic line of the wrong length and wrong diameter. So Wednesday I take wrong line to dealership and show it to them, they say "oops someone packaged the wrong line". We will order you the correct line. This oops happened somewhere out in Deere land. When you order the PB or 3rd SCV kit, it comes as a package. Well today I call back as instructed to check if the correct line had came in. That said that the part was back ordered and that there was no estimated delivery date. They didn't feel good about it at all. I told them I had a partially disassembled tractor in garage. Well this dealership is one that knows how to use their head. The made me a new line right there at the store. It is a flex line instead of a hard line, but it works just as good.

To tell you the truth I have no idea what this line does exactly. It connectes back to the rear end on the tractor near where the toplink connects. The other end of the line has a quick disconnect on it.

Here is a shot of the flex line they made me. It is the one going over the top.

Here is a shot of the completed power beyond set up. Minus the new Slow Moving Vehicle sign that came with it.

Let us know if you find out what the extra line does. Also, how much does the PB kit cost?

The top line is a return line that directs the flow back to the hydraulic reservoir without passing through the three point hitch circuit. It is used with the 47 and 48 backhoes.

I'd also like to know what the Power Beyond kit costs. I'm looking at having to add one here shortly and would like to keep the dealer honest. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Brent:

With power beyond, you must NEVER introduce return hydraulic fluid into any part of the hydraulic system other than the main tank. If the return fluid is routed back into the system instead of dumped into the tank, you build up excess heat because the high pressure side is fighting the low pressure side. That heat will eventually destroy the seals or hoses or the internal parts of the tractor.

That's why, with power beyond, the return line is not a true hydraulic (wire braid) line and usually comes with NPT instead of JIC fittings. The return must dump the lower pressure fluid into the main tank of the tractor, never back into the closed system. The return line should be at least 1-1/2 times the inner diameter of the high pressure hydraulic lines to allow for fluid expansion and adequate flow at all times.
