Yes I dig with front glass up also, except lately with the rain, cold, and mud we have been having in New Hampshire. Splot, splash and I get a face full of mud.

Sorry I misread.

Oh, I see the problem.:D Your in New Hampshire.

I had 18 days off for Christmas thru New Years. The weather was good, so got a few days in digging and moving the dam back. 1-1-20 Fritz Near Pond.jpg1-1-20 Pond NW Slope Finally Finished.jpg
The (new) shallow end of the pond was difficult to figure out how to dig it with water continually entering and piles of dirt blocking my vision. Then I came up with the idea to just dig a sloping trench from the existing pond area up to the shallow end. Then I just parked the CAT on the side of the trench and dug and backed up until I was up on the bank or dam. It was fast digging as long as I didn't get on the tractor to move dirt. I knew rain was coming , so I dug and piled the dirt as high as possible. When it dries up a little, it will be moving dirt for a bunch of hours.1-1-20 Pond Slope Indicator Trench.jpg
The red, red clay was from the small pond dug back in 2009. I put the clay there as I ran out of places to put the spoils. This area was all woods and swamp. Now it will be a good size pond. I am anxious to finish and see the newly dug area at full level.

It's fun seeing your progress on your pond. I'm looking forward to seeing the before and after pictures when it's all full again!!!

What's your forecast? Here in Tyler, they are talking about 2 inches of rain from a severe thunderstorm that is supposed to hit Friday. That's gonna fill up my small pond and should make a huge improvement to my big pond.

That storm will hit us late Friday early Sat. I am not sure how much rain is forecast. I plan to stay up and dig all day Friday. Getting almost to the finish line has me itching to get done. Wish the ground was warm as I would love to plant Bermuda grass seed. I drug out the drag harrow last weekend and showed my friends what it did to the reworked dam. They were impressed how groomed it looked finished. hugs, Brandi

Eddie,
We got 1.25 inches of rain. The pond is about 20 inches of being full. This is the main reason of moving the dam back. To capture massive runoff. Yesterday afternoon's photo. 1-10-20 Shallow End Digging Defined.jpg

That's an amazing change!!! We received an inch and a quarter too, but I didn't even notice any difference in my pond levels. I'm sure they are up, but not enough to make me notice. We've been so dry for so long that most of it just soaked into the ground.
