I think it is only legal with a fifth wheel trailer pulling a bumper pull trailer (or towed vehicle) lighter than itself.

In some states. Here any combo is legal as long as you are inside the tow rating and trailer #3 is lighter than trailer #2. No special endorsement needed.

Marinas will also hoist the boat off the trailer and set it in the water for him. It is the safest way to launch with a long trailer. Even an empty trailer gets hard to retrieve after the wheels drop off the end of the ramp.

True, but our ramp is over 80' long under water. We have a crane hoist at another marina on the lake but on our ramp they launch 120' long houseboats all the time.

Ahhh...

So one should add a couple of floats to the back of the trailer and a winch and cable system to lift the back end of the trailer up once the boat is safely floating away from the trailer. Wouldn't want the wheels stuck when loading the boat though.

I believe one can get dollies on a pole, so you can extend the tongue of your trailer another 20 or 30 feet or so.

Quite a few of our 3 axle aluminum trailers will float. Between the tires and wood bunks its just enough. Retrieving can be a challenge. It takes timiming and a good driver in the boat and recovery vehicle.

That pic is an accident waiting to happen.
Here in Florida tripples are not alloud without heavy restrictions for commercial vehicles. All vehicles must have break away protection too.
I have Class A Licence with Doubles, Tripples Endorsement and you just do not jump behind the wheel without some training.
If they start wipping you can be screwed!!

I'd be in jail if I tried that here..Even if it was legal, I wouldn't even consider it..Seems backwards..The boat should be tied to the Jeep.

I'm about three miles off of the mother road (US-route 66) here in eastern OK. I'm on the road several times dailey and see all types of RV doubles. US 66 is very popular for RVers/bikers/runners/walkers/etc to travel the old road. Much of the old road bed is still in use.

I double towed for eight years with a '90 2500 chevy/26' 5th wheel and a 3400 lb bass boat (62') all over OK and in AR/KS TX/MO. Kept my speed to the 55 mph range. No issues
We triple tow here in OK (three trailers) especially around our big COE lakes .
Usual triple tow is a one ton DRW pulling a 5th wheel trailer/pulling a good size I/O with a trailer full of PWCs bringing up the rear.
In the fall/winter its common to see a DRW pulling a 5th wheel trailer/horse trailer with a load of ATVs bringing up the rear going on hunting trips out west.
