intermittent "limp bucket" on bx2200

I set the bucket flat on the pile i'm dragging. Then I roll the bucket out so there is pressure on the cylinder as it holds downward pressure on the bucket...JB.

I went and checked my new bx23s...it does not have flow regen. I get limp bucket syndrome and the loader arms do the same. If I just lower them to back drag a windrow the arms will rise right over.
I have to push down until cylinders pressurize before I can back drag (unless I activate float, then it works pretty quick).
Oddly the backhoe suffers from none of these issues.

I should add that running at higher engine RPMs helps too. My BX valve has the region position too. Not sure that it helps with the problem though. I think the newer BXs had increased flow at low RPMs that would help that problem too.

My bx is brand new..
NO regen pos on valve.
Running at 2500 rpm makes NO difference whatsoever.

Well I got to run machine today, and I was able to cure "limp bucket" syndrome by following the advise that KWENTLING gave about curling bucket down first till you hear the pressure come on, .... so I will continue working it that way until that doesn't work any more. I still feel something is still odd about it though, the first 950 hours I put on this kubota I never had the problem, it is just been this last 50 hours that this problem has existed

That's strange that you never had the issue before now. I thought they all had it. Mine has had it since new. It went back to the dealer for that problem and was determined that it was the nature of the beast. I know I wasn't the only one with that issue.

Well I guess that I could say I'm lucky that I was able to use it that long before it showed up. I have a lot of seat time grading and excavating with many brands of equipment at work and I have never seen this issue , it still could be just a quirk of the early bx2200's mine is a 2001 model.

My BX22 is a 2002 model. It's more of an annoyance than anything. If I keep the engine rpms up, its less of an issue. Once you get the initial air out, just tipping the bucket down until it firms up is all you have to do to keep the air out. In your case, since the issue just started, maybe new seals would help. I'm not sure what the path is for the air to get behind the piston, but seals can and do leak air and not leak oil. But that is also true of new seals (thus self purging of cylinders), but possibly to a lesser extent.

You put 950 hrs on it before this showed up. We have around 830 hrs on our BX2200 and it never did have that disease. Beyond any reasonable question there is something wrong no matter how many of them have the disease. Be nice to know what the cause is !!

I agree, air is getting into the cylinder through a seal.. When you hold the valve after the bucket is curled all the way it is driving air out of the system, I would send the piston out for a repack.. This is not a normal problem..
