I hate the thought of internet profiling...it is an invasion of privacy(in my opinion),so I started using Primedius. Anyone else use any programs to block internet profiling?

No sure what Internet profiling is but I stumbled on having someone logged onto my PC through the internet as I was trying to shut it off. I immediately installed a firewall and have been notified twice in less than a week that an outsider has been prevented from accessing my PC. Is this the same thing?
I use a cable modem connection so the PC is on the Internet 100%. Convenient to me but unfortunately hackers too. I am unaware of any issues that have arisen from outside access so far. We have been on the cable modem for almost two years so who knows how many times I have had the PC hacked into.

I highly recomend physically disconnecting your internet connection when not in use. Firewalls are great, I use em. But the number one way is an airgap. there are new explouts everyday to ferret through a firewall. Another good method is to not have anything important on your internet machine. I have nothing of interest on mine. I keep my financials on another machine.

I found a browser that I can surf and it does not allow anyone to see my cookies etc,I can surf invisibly...but I agree about disconnecting your internet connection....
