I just checked the camera at Tiger Direct and B&H. B&H is cheaper. Best price I've seen on it as a matter of fact.

I concur with gatorboy. I have made several purchases with B&H photo and was very happy with the experience. They also ship any pertinent rebate information with the product.

JUST MAKE SURE THE CAMERA IS MADE FOR USA , OR IT WILL NOT CARRY THE USA WARRENTY. i bought my olympus c750 online and had no problem, i also liked the 10x optical zoom, but i do wish it had stableization.

When you buy from B&H photo/video, they typically offer USA or grey market. They explain the difference quite well there. I buy grey market because B&H will honor the warranty. Some folks have great success with B&H like me and others are disappointed. Overall, they get a good review. They are perhaps the largest online and brick and mortar photo/video supplier.

I get e-mails from Tiger Direct and also Newegg and Neweggs price is always lower. I just ordered and received from Newegg a 512 stick of Kingston 2700 ram for $55.00 and a new 6.1 sound card for $12.00. They had a one day special yesterday on an off brand 512 2700 ram for $48.00. Tiger Direct sells a lot of refurbished stuff cheap though. I go by the plant where Tiger Directs parent company ( Systemax ) build their systems. They have signs outside that tell when they have sells to the public. I have wanted to , but haven't stopped there yet to see if there are any bargains.

( Back in December I bought a new Canon PowerShot A85 along with a few accessories from B&H Photo over the internet. Items were shipped promptly with no other problems. I would definitely do business with them again. Prices were either the lowest or very close to the lowest I could find. )

Being somewhat in an audio/video related field, I've dealt with B&H numerous times over the years. Like Mad says, their pricing is always the lowest - or very near the lowest - and the service has always been good. They are the first place I go to when I want good pricing, prompt service and no hassles.

I didn't read all the responses so hopefully this isn't repetitious. You seem to be doing your homework .... and what you really need to be looking for is any hint that it's a grey-market product. One give-away is usually the price ... I was really interested in the big Sony 8mp camera and found several places that were pretty close to 1/2 list price. On further investigation, it quickly became apparent (from comments and their FAQs) that it was not a USA model .... giveaway was comments about the warranty.
When it comes to tractors and such, grey market doesn worry me overly much ... but you get into electronics ....

I daily check out Techbargains.com .... and soon found the Canon equivalent to the Sony on sale ... so now I'm the proud owner of a Pro 1 8mp prosumer camera. My final cost on this $1000 list camera was $573 ... patience certainly did help.

I bought the Minolta Z1 from Beach last year. They were very easy to order from and no hassles.

The camera, however, had a problem in that the shutter that flips it from LCD screen to eye piece stuck and I had to send it in for repair. It was covered under warranty, but still bummed me out. I was warned about that happening from several review sites, but went along with it anyway and it bit me. Other than that, the camera takes great pictures in natural light and not too bad in low light with a tripod. The flash is lousy. I've taken about 6000 pictures with it so far. Five sets of AA batteries. Not too bad.

MossRoad, I guess I've been fortunate with my Z1. I've somehow managed to drop it several times and still haven't had any problems with it. I think I'm going to buy the Cannon EOS 20D for my main digital camera and use the Z1 for travel and banging around. I've tried to find some information about the durability of the 20D, but I can't find much on it. Have you ever used that camera or know about it?

I had seen reference to that problem with the grey market cameras, and don't know the difference other than maybe warranty wouldn't be honored, I assume the controls and directions would be in english though.
I'm finding prices range all over the map, and seems there might be a catch with the lowest prices, seems that all the reviews on the sites that are really cheap, have the hook trying to sell over priced accessories. I don't have a problem saying no to all that, but I wouldn't like the hassle with delays and being jerked around. Beach Camera doesn't show the camera as being available at the moment, and B&H have been mentioned favorably several times and they're like $25 or $30 higher than some of the others. I appreciate all the feedback that I've gotten here, and it has helped me know what to look out for when I am ready to turn loose of the green. I suppose I'll just have to sort through all that I find and make a choice. Buying a tractor wasn't this complicated for me, I knew what I wanted, just had to choose between three different dealers.
