( So let me get this straight, you hired a “fella” that interviewed for a handyman/lab cleaner based on what he wore? White shirt and tie for a handyman/lab cleaner interview? Am I missing something here? Man, at my company you are lucky if they speak English never mind the clothes.
Lastly since your company is not flexible you did not hire a “bimbo” as you stated because she has a life outside of work? I passed up jobs since the corporations were not flexible to ME. In today’s workforce, the companies need to be more flexible if they want people to join.
I guess diversity is thrown out the window.

Actually we hired the guy that physically looked like he could do the lifting required, had working knowledge of machinery and tools, and was happy with the part time hours. The "bimbo" had some MAJOR issues, in that she LOUDLY announced to all in the office about her anger management classes and that she had a habit of throwing wrenches when she got angry. She also LOUDLY announced about her supervised visits were on Fridays. I wasn't doing the interviews, but couldn't help but wonder what happened that she isn't allowed to be near her kids without supervision, would we be safe with her working in a lab with anger issues bubbling just beneath the surface, would she kill someone if asked to quickly take out the trash because customers were coming in to the lab in 15 minutes. As to diversity, we had a woman welder who liked working here, but got a better offer closer to home, and currently, several members of minorities (gay, Latino, Black, physically challanged, previously incarcerated but now contributing to society) working in both labor and management, and for a small family owned company, a decent chance for advancement. I've been happily employed here for over 17 years. You had to see this "lady" as she walked through the department where I work on the way to the lab. I'd have bet $20 she wouldn't pass a drug urine test based on the ultrahyper activity and 70 MPH chatter coming out of her mouth. When someone announces what she announced and all of it in the 15 seconds it took her to walk through the office, it makes you feel REAL uncomfortable. My point being that making a potential employer feel creepy is probably not a good way to get hired.
