Hello and welcome to tbn. now to share my experience . I recently had the chance to test drive one of your RK 55 cab and non cab models and was asking the young salesman about the tier 4 and if it used the canisters. He dissapointed me because He didn't even know what i was talking about. So undeterred and chalking it up to him being young and probably being just stuck selling tractors i came home and visited the RK website. There i entered the following questions Does the RK tractors use a canister or do they just burn off so to say, and i asked the DB levels of the RK55 cab as it seemed very loud when i test drove it and revved to rpm speed at 540. I got a reply back in a couple of hours *NOT FROM THE RK GUY** but from a young lady at the store where i had test drove the tractors. She immediately gave me an answer to the canister question, a short simple YES. Now the other question was answered directly also, but what followed makes me have concerns. The answer to the noise question was the DB level inside the cab is 85 DB at idle and will go up under load, she then also states that if it is a hydrostatic model that will produce a whine and cause even more noise in the cab. Then she States the whine is normal and would be present with either an open station or cab tractor. **Here is what gets me though, she then goes on to state that the hydrostatic whine is why she directs potential customers to buy the shuttle shift versions of this tractor because they are easier to drive???

That is extremely frustrating. Please let me know either here or via PM which store this was and I will follow up.

The hydro transmissions do have a hydro whine, which is present in all hydros. The cab would trap more of the whine, naturally. We don't sell very many RK55H, which is a open station hydro transmission, there just isn't much call for them. Hydro is easier to drive when you're moving hay or something that you need to move forward and back many times in succession. However, shuttle will put more power to the ground. Some of our customers have mentioned liking operating the shuttle for mowing pastures better because they can move their feet since they put the tractor in gear and just drive. I think it is preference on which you'd rather have. We can certainly make suggestions once we know a little more how you want to use it.

Will there be a cabbed 4x4 tractor with more then 74 HP in the future?

Will there be any stores opening in Texas?

At this time we have no plans to introduce a larger tractor into our line, nor are we moving into Texas. There is a great group of stores there called Atwoods that we're friendly competitors with. Great group of people over there. Stop in and say hi if you haven't!

Brian is yet to prove himself. Hoping he does. Expecting he can't.

I hate that we've disappointed you so much in the past that you don't trust us now. I can't fix that, but I do ask that you judge me by my actions and give me the benefit of the doubt. I have been keeping track of this forum around other projects so I may not be able to respond right away, but I do want to check in as often as possible.

Thank you. I spend about $200 a week at Atwoods on feed. Great store, great prices and helpful people. Best prices on firearms too, but no tractors.

My opinion is solely based on TBN traffic that I've read. I am neither disappointed or impressed. I have read many, many paragraphs of rhetoric. A lot of faith was placed on Doug. Now he's gone. You have entered yourself into this dialog now. My only concern about you is that no one from RK knows you are here. That knowledge comes from your statement here. That's why I suggested that you inform your "leader" of your presence here. To effectively assist the customers here you will need that support.

It's not necessarily Rural King.
I have never seen a representative of any large company join any InterWeb forum and successfully navigate the typhoon. There aren't enough hours in the day to respond to every complaint and suggestion.
No matter how hard you try, you will never please everyone. The nature of forums brings out the worst in people, and that will overshadow the good.
If an individual get's hammered or trolled, it's just an individual. meh.
But you speak for Rural King - so Rural King is going to get hammered and trolled.
The Green/Orange/Blue/Red guys stay away, for good reason.

I sincerely wish you success!

PS, I can neither complain nor sing RK praises - I don't have a store close enough. A good location would be Zion Crossroads, Virginia, at the intersection of US 15 and I-66.

Welcome from another RK55 owner. Glad to have you here representing RK.

My experience with RK tractors has been very positive so far, both the Wytheville and Front Royal stores in VA have been absolutely great to work with on both sales and parts.

And I'll second that RK ought to open stores in Texas!

Brian,
0vrszd is likely opining that you do not have enough "horsepower" to get the RK tractor job done.
You admit that you are posting here without top executive support.
What you are doing is great for RK tractor support, but by your own admission, it certainly does appear that you may not be high enough on the management chain to make a real difference when/if the going gets tough.
Apparently "Doug" wanted that more "horsepower", and was overridden by those above.

I'll answer what I can answer, I'll respond when I can, and I'll get our customers the answers they ask for as soon as possible.

I was given the log in account and password details yesterday for the other "official" accounts. My leadership knows what I'm doing and backs me fully. The leadership structure at Rural King is fairly flat. We don't have a lot of levels of bureaucracy to wade through to get stuff done. It's only 2 steps between my rank and the CEO. It allows us to be nimble and react more quickly when things need to happen. Like getting on a forum and answering questions and taking care of customers.

I'd rather just use my own name and not hide behind the anonymity of a generic username.

Question about maintainence items, any chance we can just order those online? Maybe just have a section of the RK website dedicated to that and maintance items (clutches, brakes, hoses, etc)? Right now I use the local TYM dealer to get filters because they're about 1 minute from where I work, the closest RK store that sells tractors is over an hour away.

We are actively working on this now. We had a meeting yesterday and we have another discussion today without e-commerce lead to get RK Tractors products on our website. It is coming! I will use your question on this forum to help push for it faster since there is obviously a need for it.

Brian glad to see you on here and trying to answer questions.
I don't have an RK tractor and seeing as how there is no store anywheres close I highly doubt that I will.
Enjoy your stay and participation while you can.
There are some folks on here that would complain if they got hung with a new rope because it would be to scratchy.

Welcome aboard. It's good to see Rural King stay in touch with it's customers. It is one of the things that it does differently than the others.

Wear your thick britches when you come here. It's a tough crowd sometimes. Ha!

First, take me as the "unofficial official" voice of RK. No one here knows I'm doing this. Likely no one would care, but I just did it because I couldn't stand seeing people have issues that we're getting resolved and us not providing outrageous customer service. This brand is too important to me personally to let it get damaged by misinformation or speculation. The RK Tractor Guy account is still active, but we're currently sorting who's going to be in charge of that account. We have an entire team surrounding RK Tractors, so the departure of Doug, while it has caused a ripple, will not overturn the boat. Everyone up to our owners, board, and CEO is fully invested in RK Tractors. We're a multi-billion dollar, family-owned company that is debt-free, and RK Tractors uses enough cash to swing the entire company's bottom line. We don't rely on one person alone for anything.

Ask the RK Tractor Guy on our website is currently being handled by our service team.

So, let's talk about service. Service has historically been amazing at some stores, ok at some stores, but only adequate or less at some stores. That is the harsh reality. His goal and his vision is to make our shops work exactly the same across the entire company. If you ever have a problem with a store not responding, with something that isn't getting taken care of, a complaint or a comment about service, email me. We'd love to hear it.

As I noted earlier, we sold Foton/Jinma tractors over a decade ago. I worked in the stores when those tractors we being sold. We sold a bunch of them and they were a product and a price. We didn't have a service team or really any kind of plan to service the tractors. When we started up tractors this time we knew it had to be different. From the beginning we knew how important service was going to be to our customers.

We've stumbled a few times when it came to service. We've fallen short of not only our customers' expectations, but also our own expectations. But we've kept trying, kept getting better, and kept working. We're better now than we were last year, and next year we'll be better than we are now. Not because we're wishing for it, but because we are taking specific steps every day to get parts in faster, make the work more efficient, make communication faster and more streamlined, etc.

Rural King has made a heavy investment into service over the past couple of years. We currently have 9 mobile service trucks, and we're adding 5 more to service the western side of our business. These are A-level mechanics that have the knowledge and equipment to service a large number of concerns in the field. If they can't fix something in the field, we can transport the tractor back to the local store to work on it in a shop. For basic repair, the store shop mechanics may not even contact a mobile mechanic, but would be able to fix the problem there at the store.

Before we turn on tractors at a store, we do a physical survey to ensure the store is equipped to handle tractors. This is stuff like doors are large enough, lights are bright enough, proper equipment to do the job so no one gets hurt, enough space to work on tractors, etc. All the stuff that goes into setting up a shop. Any parts of the survey that are found lacking are fixed before that store has the first tractor roll off the truck. If you're in a store, you can absolutely ask to see the shop. We'd be happy to show you. Any of our stores, tractors or not. If you get told no or have a concern with what you've seen, email me immediately. We'll fix it.

We carry over $1.5 million worth of parts in our Waverly, Ohio Tractor Assembly Center. These parts are able to be shipped on our own fleet of trucks that run to every store 4-7 times per week. We've seen other tractor manufacturers stumble over parts and lack thereof and we refused to let that happen. In fact, we are making an additional investment of $500,000 this year, to bring our total parts to $2 million by 2020. We will still have a few parts that will have to be aired over from Korea, but they are the exception, not the rule. We have around 10 years worth of filters in our service centers. If you ever are in a store and they don't have the filters you need, email me directly. It means I've probably missed something and didn't get the stores replenished. As my leader reminds me weekly, we have filters.

To the point about splitting a case. If we have a tractor that needs a case split or something very big, like an engine replaced, we'd send the tractor to our Full Service Centers at either Waverly, OH in the north, or Williston, FL in the south. This is where our top mechanics have the space and large equipment like gantry cranes and large jacks that can lift tractors and pull them apart.

I hope this has helped put some facts to some of the rumors and helped everyone understand Rural King and RK Tractors' position within the company. Please, email me or comment here if you have any other comments or concerns. We exist to provide solutions to our customers.

Just so it is out there; everyone here at RK knows I'm responding now, all the way up to the CEO. I have the full support of leadership, in case anyone was concerned.

Brian, when is RK coming to Connecticut? I love RKGuns, best prices around, and I get jealous when I receive the RK weekly flyer via email and see all the deals I won't be able to get! Please consider expanding to CT.

Can't you just have them shipped to a local FFL? Or does CT have asinine transfer fees that would negate any deals?

Welcome Brian,

RK 55HSC bought from the Gainesville store. Tracey there is absolutely PHENOMENAL! However I am and have been concerned with the service department. Just from the looks it appears ill-equipped to handle repairs or maintenance.

Has the unlevel loader issue been discussed or approached? You can find it on this forum. Several of us have been concerned. I posted pictures you can research as others have as well.

I wish you the best of luck. I met Doug at the Gainesville store and listened to a bunch of garbage from him. I heard him talk of a separation of RK Tractors from RK and that he was going to be the CEO, two weeks later he’s gone. I’m glad you’re here but I’m skeptical. Very skeptical.

I absolutely love this tractor. I don’t have many complaints except for the loader.

I can’t say enough about the service from Tracey. She made my family feel like family. Hands down a lost art. I will say this though - most of the other service in the store is sub-par. The employees in that store give the vibe that they just don’t want to be there and that’s a shame.

Thanks for being here and hopefully you’ll be around to address our concerns.

Bill

I have only been to the Zephyhills, FL., RK store.
Went to look at tractors, and to buy a 9mm Taurus G2C .
Lots of RK tractors in the store parking lot.
Bought the G2C...great bargain.
RK tractors looked pretty!
Unimpressed with the facility.

Welcome and I think it is great someone is on here trying. I understand you cant fix everything but knowing you are trying is a great sign.
My wife and I love our Rural King store, great selection, good prices, fairly close to home - just wish they could get the checkout area working smooth. Seems they are always slow and and most of the cashiers seem to careless that you are there....
Good luck and glad to have you aboard!
