Not crown vetch. I have some of this too and it is happily marching down my fence rows. I'd like to kill it too but for now its less of a problem.

The closest thing I've seen is Japanese stiltgrass. But I'm still not sure.

One thing I've noticed about a lot of the informational sites [government or private] is that they list the plants by name, not pictures. You can click on each name to get to a picture but its a bit inefficient. If I knew the name, I wouldn't be looking on their site. Just another first-world problem.

Just a note, broadleaf weed killers (such as what you find in weed and feed) won't kill grassy weeds. So it's important to determine what you're dealing with. Post a pic and I can take a shot at ID.

Good point - maybe that's why its is triving so well when most other weeds in the lawn have been eliminated. Or course, it seems to be dominating some fields as well and they get no treatment.

While I might find some around here [Maryland], I probably won't be able to get a picture of it until I return to PA this weekend. So everyone stand by -- don't go anywhere until I return.

Thanks,

Rod

OK - I've pictures. But I have to confess I can't figure out how to attach them to the message. I'm sure its obvious but I'm missing it. Please help by pointing me in the right direction.

Thanks,

Rod

Kind of sounds like Ajuga also known as Carpetweed or Bugleweed, but without a picture it is hard to tell. They are invasive and will take over a yard.

Ok - I think I've got it.

These are about 6 - 8 inches high and seem to like shade a bit more than sun . . . but its not averse to growing out in the open. And it is just everywhere.

Thanks for your help.

I've had some of that here on the Eastern Shore, it seems the heavy rain allowing the planted grasses to flourish has all but eliminated it from my yard. My son in law is a horticulturist and a manager for John Deere Landscaping. He did a custom seed mix for me that has all but removed it, find very little now and no real colonies.
