go with a good oil too.. there are syn compressor oils.

Yep, my compressor manual said it came with synthetic oil and I still use the synthetic oil from Northern Tool. I think Ingersoll-Rand recommends changing oil twice as frequently in their compressors if you use regular oil instead of synthetic.

I love the new compressor. It had oil which I had Tractor Supply drain out before we laid it on its side for transport. I put IR synthetic in and ran it for the break in period of 30 minutes with no load, then it cycled a few times during the day. At that point the oil was dark. I changed it out (put IR back in) and it is now staying clean.

Bird, you suggestion to put the elbow and valve on the bottom of the tank was brilliant, and is really coming in handy. I have found that it does get water in it during the week when I'm not using even though I emptied it out at the end of the last use. I don't always get a chance to go out and release it every day - the switch is off and the shut off valve is off, although it does have air in it.

Good idea on breakin. This compressor is on sale in Negaunee MI. now Ingersoll Rand 60-Gallon Air Compressor - 3496111 | Tractor Supply Company
My question is: does it kick back on before it gets below 90 psi?
My dad's old Craftman 2 hp, 20 gallon compressor, 220v, doesn't supply enough, when it kicks on, my impact wrench is a dog until it pressures back up. I have a high speed die grinder but the old Craftsman can't keep up. The other tools, air rachet, nailer, grease gun all work fine. I have a paint sprayer that came with dad's compressor but have never been used. Side Questions: Can you adjust the kickon pressure? (on some you can, but will it start if I crank it too high) and: Should I use a bigger hose than 3/8 for my impact wrench?

You might want to talk to someone at Tractor Supply or look at the paperwork with that compressor, but I think it goes to a maximum of 135 psi, so the pressure switch should be set for it to come on at 100-110 psi.
