Saw one of these in action close to work and had never seen anything like it before. I particularly liked the aux motor etc hanging off the back of the wheel loader. In operation its real impressive. They were using it to loosen up a clay haul road prior to grading it for a permanent road bed.

Yup, thats basically what it is. Sadly the 2nd pic doesn't really show the tiller 'tines' as well as the hi res pic. Even w/ all that power to the tines it was having quite the time loosening the surface and digging in. Its surprising how hard clay can become after tons of truck traffic have compacted it.

In the background the road cut is visible and it was interesting to see it happen over a few months...from logging to final grade.

I wonder what the hydraulic flow is from that powerpack on the back? I'm assuming it is hydraulic instead of pneumatic. It kinda looks like a package that could be installed on a variety of platforms.

Don't know about flow rate but I'm sure if you poke around the link below long enough you'll find some specs. I assumed it was hydraulic also. Yes, thats right it seems to be a pkg that can be bolted on to a number of machines (as shown at their website). IronWolf

The military has the same configuration of set up for armored track dozers, and armored wheel loader. Used for mine clearing. Either a flairer, or a track turned sideways to mover the mines to the side. If one goes boom-boom, so what. All pretty heavy duty stuff. Interesting to see this set up.
