looking at a B6100D, but friend said it won't do anything?? i want to use a york yake, brush hog, box scraper. can it do these successfully?? it also has a front blade with hydraulics.
"Do what you can with you got" is what a wise man once told me. With slower speed and a little patience (and smaller implements), that machine will do what you are asking of it. However, if you don't already own it and are already concerned about its output capabilities, maybe you should consider something larger. I have a an SQ480 (48") Bush Hog I use on my B7500 - no problem, but the thing weighs in the neighborhood of 400 pounds. I had a B5100E (slightly smaller than what your looking at) and the heaviest implement it carried was a small tiller (about 300lbs). There wasn't much steering going on with it attached.
I have a B6100DT. I use a 6' landscape rake, a 4' box scraper, a 38" rototiller and the FEL.
I just re-graded the gravel roads in my subdivision this weekend with the box and the rake. She was strainin' a bit and putting out black smoke with the implements nearly full of #26 crusher run - particularly going up a slight hill - but overall she did just fine. Lost traction with the turf tires but didn't stall. Difficulty I had was dumping "just a little" of the gravel to lighten the load. Without position control it's almost impossible to modulate and the box/rake just wants to dump the whole thing at once.
If you are in NJ, I have a B7100HST that I am looking to sell. It may give you more options and is a great tractor. If you are interested. Let me know how to contact you or email me directly.
