As another post said" just my 2( I just realized this instant that this keyboard doesn't have a cent key on it!) cents worth. I'm at the point of raising my rates once again, the horrible fuel prices of this last year, horrible insurance costs, and horrible breakdowns (Beginning to see a pattern here) all contribute to what to charge per acre or by the hour. I mow commercially, with different mowers to suit induvidual jobs and grounds. I almost exclusivly? charge by the hour. The new tractor( Montana 5740 C ) is doing the bigger jobs better, but I hadn't even factored in the cost of the bigger engine costing more money per hour to operate. More net loss for fuel. If your two days of mowing were full 8 hour days, and haul in time, my bill would have been just shy of $1.000, and I wouldn't have flinched a bit about handing it to them. In fact , I've got a couple of outstanding accounts that I'll just write a bill to right now. And maybe finally tack on that 2.5 % carryover charge to them.; Sum, don't give it away, I still give away some services too cheap, but around this neighborhood, you can't just build a burnpile anywhere, It's worth it to me to use a customers property to burn legally, but without getting a burn permit for the better part of the year, and swap him usually 3 mowings on his property, for the option to keep a burn pile.
