It's way less effort to put the sealed can in a black trash bag and dump it in a dumpster.

At our dump near the cottage, they insist that your trash be in a see-through bag, so they can inspect it. (Recycling is mandatory, and they
do not want recyleable or material in the trash.)

Lots of tires mostly when summers for winter swap tires or the other way, people don't want to pay for disposal, every now and than some knot head must clean out there basement/shed,which leads land owner to post there land.

Game cam might come in handy.

Have you considered a trail cam? The police would enjoy those pics,,,,

Tried it and both were stolen. They were well hidden too, or so I thought.

We had some bozos dump their trash and stuff just inside the property line. Last time it was just outside, near the county road.

But they also left a liquor store VISA receipt behind in the trash. I sent it and the other photos to the cops, but do you think they could get an ID out of the VISA people? Not on your life! How about the liquor store itself? No way - "because of privacy rights".

I could cut my litter problem in half if the stupid county would call me back and sit down and talk to me. Blowing me off just makes me more angry and I'm going to start dumping it in front of the house of the guy that oversees the DOT. It would probably be best if I didn't catch them dumping, I'm liable to lose my head and punch them in the face or something.

For whatever reason - I've found that slobs are not isolated to any one area. When I worked for the Health Dept in Anchorage we would send inspectors out a couple times a year to check "favorite" locations where people would dump their garbage.

They would actually dig thru the garbage and find mail, etc with names & addresses. We would send registered letter to these folks giving them a specific amount of time to clean up the mess. In the absence of any action on the part of the "offenders" we would have the Public Works Dept go out with front end loaders & dump trucks and clean up the spots. We would then go to court and obtain the necessary court orders to assess ALL costs back against the property of those identified.

I found that the favored defense, in court, was the "offenders" would say - "Why, somebody must have stolen my garbage and dumped it out there".

I distinctly remember one case where the presiding judge lapsed into such a laughing jag that he had to call a 15 minuet recess to regain his composure.

It is not worse in my area but dumping happens.

I have had one guy dump twice at our gate. Both times it was on a Friday afternoon and I heard his car the first time but thought it was the family arriving home. Pretty sure the guy was a contractor working on a nearby house and that he threw out his stuff three times. Twice on my place and once on some land near the state road. He walked way into the woods to dump on the land. :confused3: It was fast food trash and such that they guy could easily have taken home...

Our county does not directly charge to dump trash at the collection centers. We pay in our property tax and we have to have a windshield sticker. The sticker was needed because the collection centers near county lines were getting heavily used by people living in neighboring counties where they were charged to dump trash. Charging to dump trash per visit is soooo stupid. I am sure my county will do this soon since The People voted as they were told and elected one of the most corrupt group I have ever seen in office.

I have seen trash dumped and I know darn well the dumpers lived in the county and had a sticker so they could dump at the collection center. The collection center is nearby and almost certainly the dumpers go right by the dump to get groceries. They spent more time dumping trash on someone else's land than simply going to the dump...

You can change stupid.

Later,
Dan

Our county is great for hazardous waste, used oil, and easily recycled materials. The problem is with items too big to fit into the trash bins such as old furniture, appliances, etc.
Tractors are good for breaking stuff up into small pieces:D

Our property starts about 3/4 mile from the pavement, at the end of a road which is used only for our access with minor use by the adjoining neighbors (2). Until a few years ago the road was generally unusable except by 4-wheeler, and sometimes only on foot. Whenever it WAS usable, because I or a neighbor cleaned it up for our own access, folks drove 1/2 mile in and dumped everything they could haul. We even found a dead horse melting into the woods just before putting up the gate.

Put up a good steel gate 2 years ago. They can't drive in with a pickup any longer, and are apparently unwilling to carry the trash far enough to dump it, so the problem has stopped. Nothing significant dumped by the gate. The road is also doing much better, as careless traffic would destroy the water bars which would let the rain destroy the road.

No doubt dumping trash outright all the way to just throwing drink cups and fast food sacks out the window is getting worse.

This comes and goes on my road. People stop at a gas station somewhere and get a slice of pizza and a 2-gallon drink and feel that the best thing to do with the trash is throw it out on a country road. And I won't even get into the beer cans, I should start gathering them up and selling them to the local scrap yard. I think they toss them so they don't get caught with open containers if they get stopped.
