Dang, that's one heck of stump...guess you also grow good crop of rocks in Maine also.
You never know about stumps. I've dove into a few large pine stumps I figured would take hours only to find mother nature had done my work for me and they popped right out. I just replaced the bucket teeth on my backhoe. They aren't to bad, $17 bucks apiece or something like that. Where I need hardfacing is between the teeth on the cutting edge of the backhoe bucket. It's showing wear there, and probably a lot of it is from ripping on roots.glmf said:Thanks for the replies guys. Patches, I take it easy on the hardware, seems with rpm's around 1800, movements are less jerky and still good power. I am really surprised with the power of the hoe for a small unit. Took my time and was careful, that means getting on and off the tractor alot. But getting better on the controls and feel the next one will come out quicker. Will definately hardface the teeth on the bucket as well as the toothbar that I made. It is unbelievable how much ledge and rocks are around here, you cannot make one scoop without bringing up rocks or hitting ledge.

Not if you're having fun!!
