Large delivery trucks and dump truck type "things" built in India are wooden cabs on small metal frames.

problem with wood is that it doesn't have good return properties when plastically stressed, that and the grain just make it split and splinter.. and once damaged..t here is no good repair method other than repalcement, unlike metal parts.. etc... etc.
