Anyone who has AVG, I recommend dropping it in favor of Avast. I had AVG before. Actually twice before. Each time only gave me grief. Fist time I had it, it let a homepage hijacker/trojan through. After that I got Norton 2004. Then, in 2006 when I no longer used Norton, I tried AVG again. This time it conflicted with the drivers for my ATI video card. I uninstalled it and got Avast. I couldn't be happier with it. I love the Web Shield (scans web pages before it gets to your computer). It doesn't really slow download speeds at all. I had a slight issue with the early versions of 4.8, but they have since fixed it.

Couldn't agree more. Avast is the way forward (for now at least) :D

I have been running AVG for 5 years in 3 computers... never a problem. But this new version keeps telling me it doesn't like the way I have it set up.. I hate it when programs tell me what to do. The interface is certainly more like the others... not a good thing in my book. Downloads of new updates, the files sizes reportidly are smaller... but take longer to download and process. I think it is time to download Avast and unload AVG.

I used AVG for a while, it kept telling me I had a virus, but it was a false warning. I have an HP computer and HP Update was being flagged. After that incident, it would fail to load Resident Shield after every update. I kept downloading updates and following AVG troubleshooting tips and fixes, still never functioned correctly. I even uninstalled and downloaded a newer version, still had the same issues. I finally ditched it and reinstalled my McAfee. No issues since.

Let's hope Kioti fixes this problem quicker than they did their loader issues.

Site was taken down today at noon. I expect it will get cleaned up although we were not informed for how long.

Thanks everyone for the heads up abut Avast. The short version of my HP laptop saga is that I bought a 17" screen HP laptop from HP in September 2007. Since then it was sent in FOUR times. On the fourth failure they finally decided to send me a new one. I had to pay round trip postage 2.5 times from France to USA. Once HP France fixed it but it was a no fix so at least I didnt' pay postage that time. Friends from Houston will be bringing over my new laptop on July 9th so I'll take all of your advice and install Avast. I hate uninstalling Nortons, like everybody else. I have been using AVG Free edition and I think it seems fine. However i do like what you mentioned about Avast checking the webpage before you load it so that feature alone leads me to that product.
The problem with my HP laptop is that when I would run off the battery and then plug it back in on house current it would not recognize that it was plugged in and it would simply run the battery completely down and not allow me to run off of house current. So now with the new laptop I will install for the 4th time all my software. Since I had hard drive failures on other laptops i bought this one with 2 drives and had my data backed up. Even my e-mail. So after i install all my software again, for the fourth time, I should be able to jsut swap out the d drive for the one I ahve over here and be off and running. There isn't anything special i have to do as far as swapping out the D drives is there? Just unscrew the cover plate on the back of the laptop and switch them out is what I'm planning.

I am not even excited to get a new laptop, I wish the old one would ahve worked. The nw one is virtually that same as the old one so all this means to me is to re-install software again. I swear this is my last PC. Both my kids converted over to Apple and that is where I am going next. I am sick and tired of Windows and HP in particular. I am just going to suck it up and pay the premium price for an Apple next time, this is my last PC.

Looks like the website is back up & running, no problems bringing up tractor images.

KIOTI performed the maintenance last night. You shouldn't have any more issues with the site.
