Is my MF 231 running too hot??

I would try to get the original from Massey Ferguson. New gauge and sending unit that is. I agree on keeping it original as I like to keep them that way too. To some seems silly I guess but thats just me.

Fixing to install the new 180F thermostat and gasket. They are both Perkins OEM parts.
Man at the Perkins place said the temp sending unit and gauge would have to come from Massey unless I wanted aftermarket. Said the sending unit wasn't available from Perkins.

Right. Perkins just builds the engines, Massey selected the sending unit, gauge instrument cluster, etc.

Now I have more problems. Something completely different this time.

Here is a pic of the gauge with the tractor high idling at 1500 RPMs. Outside temp on the thermostat was reading 176-179.5 but LOOK AT THAT NEEDLE!!!

According to the needle it was about to run hot!

ALSO, IVE GOT 2 MORE PROBLEMS that I think are more serious now.

...let me know when y'all are ready.

And go ahead and pop me a bag of popcorn and email it to me. I'm gonna have to sit down and think on this one..

Ok I've sat on it for a few minutes but no popcorn... Either the alternator bearing or smething to do with the alternator went out, or something happened to the water pump. THE RADIATOR CAP WAS OFF, SITTING ON THE FUEL TANK. It vibrated off and went flying and I heard a LOUD squeak In either the alternator or water pump. Water went everywhere. I honestly thought the head gasket blew out the way it sounded. Outside of the top of the radiator was warm, but the middle and the bottom was cold as can be. With the engine killed, I can turn the fan blade back and forth and hear the squeaking very good. How can I rule out the water pump??

Also I forgot to ask, was I supposed to "burp" the coolant system or something?
