Is my new tractor damaged?

It happens with sons. When my son was 14, I took the car out of the garage and asked him to wash it for $10. I foolishly left the keys on the front seat.

After about an hour, he comes in and says "all done, Dad". I go out to pull the car into the garage, and it is already in the garage. I ask my son and he says "oh yea, I put it in the garage for you." OK.

Next morning I go out to go to work. The front passenger tire is flat. Humm. I fill it up and take off. After just a minute, I know something is wrong. I look harder and the wheel is bent. Long story short, after washing it the little bugger took the car down the street, hit a concrete drain (at apparently more than a slow crawl) and bent the wheel and damaged the tire. I asked why he took the car into the street?

His answer --- "to dry it off before going into the garage".

I asked why he didn't tell me he hit the drain?

Answer --- you have all heard it before --- "I don't know".

Good Idea unless your forgetful like me, and cuss the tractor for ten minutes before remembering what you did.

My son likes to climb on the tractor. I lower the bucket, set the parking brake, park on level ground, take the key out, and let him go to town. Once, he left the flasher going all night and ran the battery down, and I got one of those battery cutoff switches. It's a good safety feature as well, similar to engaging the PTO. Anybody with a lick of sense is going to figure it out in a hurry, but it still fools my three year old.
