No PowerTrac posts in three days, either my set is not accepting information or everyone is too busy to post.

Everybody's out rooting around in the ice & snow looking for some grass to cut with the new toy. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

No ice and snow here /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I'm out and about planting new seed with the aid of my PT.... Spring time is real nice down here....

I spent the last four days tilling, harrowing, raking, tilling, harrowing some more, and seeding my two acres of lawn.
Torrential rain today probably washed all the seed away /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif. Guess I'll have to harrow and seed some more /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I wish I were tilling....instead I am toiling away at my desk. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I thought I would quickly check in to TBN....now you have me daydreaming about clearing and planting this next weekend.... /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

IT SURE IS QUIET . I HAVE BEEN USING MY 422 TO MOVE SOME LOOSE DIRT AND HAD THE TILLER ON TO DIG UP A LITTLE FLOWER GARDEN FOR THE WIFE. IF THE WEATHER WOULD GET NICE AND STAY THAT WAY I COULD TILL THE GARDEN, THE WEATHERMAN DOESN'T SOUND LIKE THAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN AT LEAST THIS WEEK.

Paul:
Got a break in this part of MD over the weekend, so re-tilled vegetable garden, mowed lawn, seeded bare spots, spread compost, removed more dead hay from pastures -- an easy 6 hours for the PT and a hard 12 hours for its owner/operator. Obviously, I need more attachments. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
So then Monday, sleet, snow and cold rain. Seed no doubt located a long way downhill from where I put it. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Sat and Sun afternoons were spent digging up the flower bed for my lovely wife in our front yard. I used a friends small gas-powered tiller (don't have a PT tiller, but probably don't need one.) I cut down a river birch tree that was just too close to the house, and used the stump grinder to get rid of the stump. For such a small tree, that thing had a heckuva stump! The stump grinder is very effective, but it does require some patient (and a hard-hat and face shield to keep from getting smacked with rocks!)

Moving the tree branches makes me realize that I still need two attachments: the grapple deal, and a hydraulic powered chipper/shredder!

I'll agree with you the grapple and a chipper shredder would be nice to have. I cut some trees down and am cutting fire wood for next year and burning the small branches and multifloral roses while it is wet. Too bad power trac does not offer a chipper.

I thought the brush hog doubled as a chipper.

Maybe they're reading these post. It doesn't seem like it would be to hard for them to OEM someone elses chipper and put a hydraulic motor & attachment plate on it.

while your wishing, and if they read this stuff. they should make a leaf blower like the ones steiner have,
people with lots of trees can use them /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Bubenberg has mounted a leaf blower on his 425, using a 2" hitch adapter.

Re: Herr Bubenberg

who clearly rocks!...and leads the PT innovators list IMHO, though there is much talent here!

Eventually when I get a PT, I plan to use the lawn vacuum/leaf blower off my Ingersoll. But I haven't given it much thought beyond that.

Leaf processing

One item on my wish list is something to sweep/vacuum/somehow reliably pickup leaves, mulch them, then allow me to easily dump or spread them. I have plenty of leaves and might as well use what nature is giving me as mulch. Would really like a way to do it easily with minimal bending/raking/blowing...and as a PT attachment would be nice!

Someone mentioned using a bushhog as a chipper...well, the easiest way I've found so far is using my walk-behind lawnmower as a leaf shredder! Works pretty well!

Re: Leaf processing

I don't think this is what you are looking for, but it does what you want to do VERY easily - complete with hydraulic dump.

POWER TRAC SAID THAT THE COST WAS TOO HIGH FOR THEM TO MAKE A CHIPPER, AND I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE BRUSH HOG WORKING AS ONE SINCE I DON'T HAVE ONE YET!! IT IS ON MY WISH LIST.
