Rotary Cutter Is there a "bad" brush cutter

Re: Is there a \"bad\" brush cutter

For extended heavy use I'd stay away froml light duty. I had an economy 6' I used I less than 2yrs on 2-3" stuff. All that's left is the powertrain and tailwheel. A properly adjusted slipclutc should save your gearbox. The deck couldn't take the vibration and the A frame/ lift points was weak as posted earlier. Look for captuered lift points that arms fit between and mounted to deck, not A-frame. It was money ($700+) wasted in my case. PM me and I'll give you the brand/model. Too much uproar mentioning it in threads.

>>King Kutter XB L-48-40-XB $820 new<<

I bought that exact cutter a couple of weekends ago for less than $700 at TSC. It was like $698 I think.

Highbeam,
Off the subject, but in your first attachment there is a giant yellow funnel in the background...what do you fill with THAT?

acs55812 ,
On the subject, I bought a 6' Howse last August and only paid $550. It's pretty beefy. Those prices you listed seemed fairly high to me also? Have you checked eBay prices for those brands?

Looks like a broadcast spreader to me.

Re: Is there a \"bad\" brush cutter

February 05'.......brand new Bush Hog SQ600 (5') Squealer rotary cutter.........Paid $890.00 out the door at my Mahindra dealership here in Louisiana....................Unless the price of steel has went up that much in a year, your quotes are WAY too high........But I do understand that when a person needs/wants something, they gotta get it no matter what..............If I were you, I'd shop around a little.........If you can afford new then I, personally, wouldn't buy used......

Hope this helps,
Travis

)</font> In the case of a rotary cutter I'd consider used. These are simple machines, and easy to fix. They get beat up, beat on and abused by their nature and purpose. If its not rusted out and has good blades, gearbox, I'd buy used, because it is definitely going to get used by me. Who has a rotary with at least 150 hours of field ,trail, brush mowing on it that still looks new?
Now a new 5' kk rotary is 659.62 on TSC website not the XB
I'm sure their 4' is cheaper
I don't see you cutting a forrest of 3" trees with it. but the ocasional 1.5 to 2" is do-able without a problem
