The JD manual isn't exactly verbose to describing how LoadMatch works - it simply says, and I quote, "LoadMatch enables the operator to prevent the engine from stalling during heavy load applications such as operating a loader." I have found it to be useful when climbing hills as well, and leave it engaged all the time, but I'm wondering if there's a downside to this. Is there ever a good reason to shut it off?

It seems nobody wants to touch this question, so let me stick my neck out. I cannot see anything wrong with leaving load match on all the time. My experience has been that this is a great feature that makes it easy to put maximum engine power into useful work. There may be a outside chance that continuous operation at maximum power could lead to overheating, but I doubt it. I have never heard of an overheating complaint on a John Deere CUT (expect for clogged grill screens). Perhaps the man that goes by "Chief" could tell us how the 4710s of the 101st Airborne are holding up in the heat of Iraq.

Another thought is that load match is always on on the J.D. 110 TLB. It has no switch to turn it off. The hydro on the 110 TLB is the exact same hydro used in the 4610 and 4710.

The only reason I can think of to turn off load match is to demonstrate to customers, yourself and friends what a huge difference it makes in performance.

I haven't heard a peep of negative feedback from any of the units that took their 4710's to Iraq. I would suggest using it when you need it. I doubt it will hurt anything. Maybe in extreme circumstances could cause heat build up. I will ask my buddy who is the Government Sales John Deere rep.
