Is there anything I can spray on equipment to prevent winter rust?

If it is something like a plow share we use primer in a spray can. If it's a power shaft etc motorcycle chain lube seems to stick well and I usually have some that I would like to use up before winter.

Primer is porus and made to be covered by paint, you would be much better to just use cheap paint.

Fluidfilm is safe around animals, my dogs have licked the nozzle on the can with no problems.

I've never heard of fluid film. Sounds like it might be good to spray on spreader after fertilizing. I think one of ya mentioned that. Might have to try it but I've never seen it anywhere.

another thing about ff it smells good and it also makes chapped hands feel better

Actually LPS-3 is better than LPS-2 if you want a coating that does minimal enviromental harm.
Used it protect machined fits on equipment too big to be brought indoors. Stayed out all winter
next to the river (brackish water) with no sign of deterioration.

As a lobster fisherman working in the salt water inviroment . Crown , fluidfilm and penlube are what everyone uses here.
my preference is Crown and I have 20 year old tools on the boat that still work like new .

Good to know, salt water is very corrosive.
