Just got a call from my wife. When she got home from work she found the house had been buglarized. All of my long guns are gone and some of her jewelry. They trashed our master bedroom pretty badly. She called the Sheriff's office and is calling every pawn shop in the area.

I've had friends in the area had the same thing happen. The slimeballs only took guns and jewelry... things they can move quickly. None of my friends have had any luck getting their stuff recovered. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

BR

Stealing is pretty low.

However, seeing that you had firearms in the house, you should of had a safe to store those firearms.

Money value aside, what happens if those firearms are used to hurt someone?

Hope you had all the serial numbers on those guns recorded somewhere. And even then, many of them are never recovered.

Rob,

Man i hate to hear it, and not to kick you in the spleen while you are down, but Sig is right, a quality gun safe is the way to go. You can pick them up used and save some $ because lots of folks upgrade their safes so the dealers usually stock both used and new. If you have the s#'s it is possible that they will turn up, but most of the time it takes years. Unfortunatly we have theives both urban and rual settings. My neighbor in Tn was hit once the same as you, so i am planning on an automatic gate and an audiable alarm that will peel the skin off your ears. This along with a built in walk in safe in the basement. Look on the bright side: you get to shop for a safe and "upgrade" some of those long guns...... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

So what if? It would be a darn shame as it always is. Are you somehow implying that the victim of the theft becomes acccountable for what the thieves do with the items they steal?
