I just got a quote for a 2305 with r4's and a 49'' FEL and ballast box that came out to $13,331, no mower deck. there is a site sponsor that has a 2305 with a 53'' bucket, and 62'' mower deck for $12,999. granted its a 13 hour drive for me, roughly, but considering it also has the mower deck, it might be worht the trip. I'm not gonna spend 13k and not get a mower deck, granted most of my work will be with the FEL, I still want the deck.

I got a quote on a 2305 when I was shopping. I think the tractor was $10k, FEL $2500, and mower $1500. Total about $14k, but with mower. This is ballpark and I'm sure others who actually bought one will chime in. Good Luck.

yea, that price is high. local dealer here was selling tractor alone for $9k or maybe it was $9.5k not too long ago, add $2700 for fel and $1800 for 62" mmm, that puts you at $14 for the package. On the other hand, I bought a demo setup like above last year for $12k with 33 hours on it.

Here in NH, I got a recent quote for a 2305 with loaded turf tires, 200cx loader with (I think) a 49" bucket, and weight box for $12,875. Southwestern NH, a few miles from I-91 if you are interested. That was their standard price with no negotiating.

This is my experience after buying 3 new Deeres in the past 2 1/2 years. Go to the Deere site and price one using the configurator to establish the retail price, most dealers will come down only 10-12% on that tractor because it is considered an "economy" tractor (the '05' in the model number signifies it as an economy model) the other tractors with '20' in the model number have higher mark ups and you should be able to get 15% without too much trouble and perhaps another 2-3% if you want to squeeze harder.
Look hard at the 2320 or 2520 before buying, I have a 2305 as well as a 2520 and think the 2520 is a better choice if you are doing a lot of loader type work. I keep the 2305 around just to run the snowblower.

turbo36 did you get the 2520 after the 2305? if so, what made you decide to go with it instead of a 3120? just asking, as I am considering an upgrade for myself.

This tractor was for use around my house, the main duties are light landscaping and snow removal. I wanted a small frame tractor so I bought the 2305 but after using it for a while I realized it just didn't have the performance I wanted so I bought the 2520. I like the 2520 because it fits my garage and the work environment, the hydraulics are much faster then the 2305 and it is more stable when working with the loader.
I kept the 2305 because Deere only offers a 47" blower in that size frame and the 2520 is 53-54" wide so I would have a lot of tire overlap if I would have mounted the blower to it. I'm waiting for Deere to come out with a wider blower.

The 3000 series was just over kill for around the house (actually I've been told so is the 2305). I do have a 3720 Cab model at my Lake House and think it's great.

thanks, I'm kinda in the same boat, but don't have that nasty white stuff ya'll have to deal with. Kinda thinkin of tradin the 2305 for a 2520, that way I get to keep my implements instead of upgrading them too. I agree that the 2305 is probably overkill for most around the house, but I've got some rough landscaping projects to do. I may end up keeping it and buying a rough old tractor I won't feel bad about abusing.

Early last year, we bought a 2305 for light loader duty and snow removal, but mostly for mowing, both around the house and outbuildings, but also for waterways and fence rows. It is the perfect sized mower for our use and gets into places that larger tractors cannot go. However, we have the occasional need for a larger tractor for landscaping, tree removal, construction/demolition, etc., but didn't really want to upgrade because of how much we like the 2305. Don't get me wrong. Like other posters here will tell you, the 2305 is a subcompact that doesn't know it own limits, but there were times that I felt that I was almost pushing it too hard. I thought about upgrading, but the need for a larger tractor is only occasional and wasn't worth it for what I would lose in the trade. For that reason, I bought a 1978 2040 with a 48 loader. The money was right and its a whole lot of tractor and can handle lots of tasks that a compact utility tractor can't touch. The loader goes up real high which makes it great for lifting shingles up to my garage roof. I'm demolishing an old barn and it's great for that as well. It's really handy having two tractors which we can use simultaneously. For us, buying an older utility tractor and keeping the 2305 was definitely the best way to go. But the bottom line is, you need to buy a tractor which will best address your primary need and I know that for us, if we could only have one tractor, it would be the 2305.

seems like there is a bit of pricing difference where peope are located too. I really like some of the features the 2305 has over the 2350 from kubota. but the price seems high for it. It may be a bit big for my current yard, but I have quite a bit of landscape projects to do, so the size and hp is needed.

the dealer recommended 2 add ons. but i can only remember 1, and that is the independent lift. is it worth the upgrade to that?

The general feeling here is that the independent lift really isn't worth the extra cost. I have neither, so can't address that from personal experience.

MSRP on the most popular Scuts is interesting. These prices are with 60" mower deck, (mechanical lift on the JD) and loader:
Kubota BX2350 $14,496.00
John Deere 2305 $15,514.00
Massey Ferguson CG2400 (new) $16,436.00

There are things on both the Kubota, and JD that I like, so that is a tough call for me, but I do know that I would rather have a Kubota BX24 with the backhoe for $200.00 more than the Massey with just a loader, and mower. Of course this is all with MSRP, and mileage will vary depending on dealer discounts.

As I have mentioned before and for what it is worth, if you are looking at the 2305 please also look at the 2320. It is larger, but not dimensionally that much so and has a full cat one hitch and more chassis weight for not much more money. The 2520 has a direct-injected engine and thusly is more expensive. The way I look at it is the 2520 with its better hydraulics might do a little more than the 2320, but the 2320 would likely do a fair amount more than the 2305 for not a alot more money. It also has some functional upgrades that do not really cost that much more, so I personally think you get more for the money with the 2320 v. the 2305. The 2305's are tough little tractors, though. An important note, the subcompact market is highly competitive. Although I like JD products, I would say you might be able to get an equivalent machine from another manufacturer for less money if you were still interested in this size range.

I agree with John M. The 2320 does have a lot going for it, and is in the same price range. Depending on dealer discount, you might buy one for less than a Massey Ferguson GC2400. It certainly is one of the tractors on my short list. :) It's interesting that it is actually lower than a 2305 with the ROPS folded to get under trees. From most accounts, it is also a better platform for the 200cx loader.

I thought about the bigger tractors, because the price for the machine is bettter in comparision, but I have a 1/2 acre, mostly back yard space, which right now is completly unsuable. It needs quite a bit of fill, brush and tree removal, ect. I also need to regrade my driveway, and get it ready for it to be paved, do some walk ways ect. The nimbleness of the smaller tractor is needed, while the capability of the larger ones would be prefered. We also plan to move in a 2-4 years, so, this tractor will also be used at our next place. We are looking in the 1 plus acreage area.
While alot of quys would say just rent a bobcat for those jobs, well, due to my schedule, I really wouln't be able to get the use out of the 200 plus dollars a day or what ever the weekend charge is here for them. I would rather put 200 bucks a month towards ownership.

I do like the the bx24 and the backhoe on the 2305, however, i would not be using the backhoe right now as much to justify the extra cost. the wife has me on a strict budget too  , but down the road I could always add one on, like the woods to either machine. If I do need one, I could get away with renting a small excivator for those jobs.
