Price Check Is this a decent price For JD2520

One man's opinion, but moving up, as described, is a noteworthy upgrade.

What I don't like is the deal terms, as spelled out. I cannot believe your present tractor would be a hard sell. Spotless clean and well photographed as glamour shots and put it on TractorHouse and Craigs.

Man, don't take a beating on trading it in. Rein in your sense of urgency and pocket a few grand in making this swap. The swap, I'd do in a heartbeat, but not at the loss of thousands of bucks. It'll be alright. Take your time.

I am in the midst of attempting a VERY similar upgrade. I am preaching to myself.

To each his own opinion. Some may consider a few HP and a few extra lbs of a tractor a big difference.

Don't get me wrong, the 2520 has far more features as the 2305 was more of an economy line.

But staying in the same size/frame class isnt much jump IMO.

If the OP finds the 2305 just too small for the jobs he has at hand, I think he will be dissapointed with the 2520. And especially with the hit one takes when trading up, I'd be looking more at the 3320 and up.

The same salesman came back with better terms than originally quoted. Now he's offering $14,450 for the 2305 trade-in (with front loader and Backhoe), and $13,990 for 2520, 2770 for new CX200 loader and $6,690.. for the JD 46 backhoe with 16" bucket. This leaves a balance due of $9,000.00 instead of the original $11,000.00 His explanation for the low trade-in price offered centered on the great financing terms offered by JD on new tractors. He believes that most potential buyers would go for the new tractor since the difference in price is made up by the loan interest saved. It is a valid point, but doesn't make the trade much easier on my end. I'm going to look into it further, but you all bring up valid points. I probably would consider the 3000 series but I need to trailer it, and would have to purchase another(more capable) pick-up to accomplish that.I'll probably see if they can get a 2520 from another retail outlet, so I can take a further good look at it.You all bring up excellent points and I will definitely spend a more time mulling this over.

I agree with BP and others to atleast attempt to sell yours outright and then consider a 3X20 series. Lots more capabilities in the larger ones.

What do you have to tow and trailer with?

Good advice here, I sold my 2007 2320 on Craigslist in about a week for quite a bit more than the local dealers were offering. Then I took the cash and put it down on a 2010 3320 which was a huge improvement in weight and performance.

FWIW in July I paid $24k for a 3320- e-hyrdro, tooth bar, 300cx, deluxe brush guard, and rim guard. No hoe.

Well, if you are still mulling this deal over, do indeed list your equipment on Craigs and find out of you can beat the dealer's trade in offer. What do you have to lose? Try it for 2-3 weeks. Price it right.

I sold my year old tractor last week on Craigs, as is often said, it only takes that one right buyer. I got $1500 more than dealer's best trade in offer. The buyer saved a couple grand, motivating him instead of buying new at zero %. Everyone was happy.
I don't have many days when I make $1500 working.

Rand keep in mind that the tradein price will reduce the amount of sales tax that you will pay by about $1,560.00 because you will only have to pay the sales tax on the diffrence between the new tractor minus the tradein. So you would have to get $16,010 for your tractor to break even. Just a thought hope this helps,
