Price Check Is this a good price for a trade in?

Were looking at trading in our old equipment for a 5075m and would like opinions on whether were getting a good deal or i should look to sell it outright.
2002 JD 4410 eHydro w/1800hrs
Good condition, front turf tires are bad
430 loader with 73" HD bucket
3pt ballast box
72" MMM
60" Front mount HD power broom
59" Front mount snow blower

There offering us $12,500 for the whole deal. Your opinions?

IMHO,I would sell outright.
I don't know much about a 4410,but just the few minutes looking at the tractor sites,if your tractor was well maintained and in any kind of decent condition mechanical wise and body wise,it's almost worth that much by itself. What they are offering is a pretty low dollar...my .02

The only way to evaluate a trade in offer is to compare the dollar cost for the purchase with and without the trade in. Is there a discount or lower offer of any type for a cash only deal. Usually there is, although you may have to go to a different dealer to find out.

A dealer can play with his pricing and profit on the new equipment in many, many ways.

You need to compare cash price vs. the price you would have to put on your old equipment to have it sell in one day...

I agree. That's pretty low. The hours are a little high-but with the blower, broom and FEL in the deal I think you would do much better selling outright.

Put some new shoes on the front, wash it down, take some shiny pictures of it and advertise it locally (Craigslist) and here on TBN

It will depend on the dealer...some are going to lowball you on the trade if they think it's going to be difficult to sell your trade in. Plus, they want to make a profit when they sell the tractor. With 1800 hours, that might put some buyers off.
And, of course, it depends on the overall condition of the machine. If the paint is bad and a lot of rust...well, it's not going to sell too quickly even with those implements.
And, this is not the economy in which you're going to see super deals as a seller.
What dealer are you talking to, if I may ask? Southern York Turf and Tractor?

It seems to me, most dealers tend to give low trade-in value for CUTs. Dealers who sell larger equipment and tractors, seem to give a more fair value and closer to auction prices. I sold my 2007 JD 3720 with cab and FEL last fall. Like new condition and low hours. The trade-in value from 2 dealers was about half ($17.5K) what I paid for it. Another dealer gave me a trade in of $21.5 and was also the cheapest for price of a new JD 4520. I gave the 2 other dealers a bit of a hard time. They all use the same valuation manuals and all saw the 3720. Why the $4K difference?

I ordered the new 4520 and had the option of trading in the 3720 or selling the 3720 outright. The 4520 was expected to arrive in 4-5 weeks. The dealer didn't care either way. I sold the 3720 on craigslist in 2-3 weeks for $25.5K. The 2 dealers could have potentially made over $8K on a resale. 50% profit on my trade-in seemed a bit excessive IMHO.

If your 4410 and attachments are in good to very good condition, I think you can do much better selling it yourself.
