Is this a parking violation?

My interpretation is the same as Highbeam's -- i.e. that the sign shown only applies to the right side of the road. Are there signs on the other side pointing the other way?

I think one sign in the "dead end" would have indicated that entire area was No Parking, but typically on roadsides the sign applies only to the right shoulder, unless it specifies "No Parking Either Side" or there are signs posted on both sides.

Regarding the signage should be different concept.

I WHOLLY agree. The Chief said he really wanted some "no parking between signs" signs.

Now we have part A of the county verses part B of the county (the people with signs and what THEY want to do)

It's really interesting watching Sherriff dept point finger at highway dept, or vice versa... not to forget everyone pointing fingers at TVA and THEIR vice versa... Bottom line, no one really gives a rats hiney (and frankly I can't say I really blame them, there ARE more important things in the world for everyone to worry about)

That said, we get a LOT of riff raff out here. One of the deputies told me point blank, this is considered one of their larger 'problem areas'. Ironically, one of the TVA officers has also told me it's one of THEIR bigger problem areas.

I think this is the basic reason they felt to tag road no parking and by & large, I must admit, AFTER these signs went up, 90% of our issues have taken their drugs/booze/trespassing/thievery/garbage/dumped dead bodies/dumped animals/dumped construction materials/dumped appliances elsewhere.

My feeling is, we gotta be dilligent. one thing that really infuriates me when I don't call the sherriff... (and yes, this has happened)... I see someone parked down there on weekend perhaps, later on when I drive by going home or out, I see a bunch of trash dumped (ironically) right near where they were parked. Was it them or not? I didn't see it so can't say for sure.

Net effect of the above is I feel compelled to be the pinhead to ALL of them. My logic being, once word gets out that there is no grace given... they will simply go elsewhere.

It would be SO much easier for all if they simply used the darn parking lot that was built for them. (oh yeah, some that do, leave their trash on ground there too) Yet again, it all simply comes down to respect!

Oh, I forgot to mention that they've already stolen two of the signs that were installed. They simply rip them out, toss them into lake??

Then do as they please. Unfortunately, when the authorities come out, they (understandably) adopt the attitude of, "Well, if there is no sign there, I can't (or don't feel comfortable) giving them a ticket"

So the riffraff know they can just knock them all down & carry on.

becomes a very unfortunate cycle.

next time try calling the fire dept first: if you're home is beyond this point then they are effectivly blocking the fire access to you're home which has more of a higher pwers involved... also don't call them saying you have a fire more state that there is a blockage issue which constantly arrizes and can/could cause an issue. there would be no way of getting these people back to move the cars quickly so have a no parking sign posted with the fire lane thing added then there will be federal problems too /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Coon hunters that are the friends of the officer are NEVER in violation and NEVER will be. There are to many variables and they will spilt hairs to keep their buddies out of trouble. As an example, it is not clear as to where the no parking zone ends, how far past the sign is the no parking zone? 10' 20' 50'

Some things don't seem fair. It's not what you know, it's WHO you know. That says it all.

I think I would only deal with the issue when and if it really blocks your driveway. Otherwise you'll be fighting a battle you can't win and those battles are no fun.
