Is this acceptable quality on a brand new Kubota?

My fear is that by presenting the paint chips you might be dismissed as a crank and risk the larger issue being summarily dismissed. Of the defects noted, the one that would upset me is the appearance of the welds. I have a hard time believing that nobody at the factory was aware of the poor quality work performed here. Somebody is trying to pass off substandard work. If they had shipped this tractor to a dealer to carry in inventory, I think something would have been done. If this is not cause for concern by Kubota I would be shocked. The higher ups must care about their product's reputation. I think Kubota is too good a company to allow this kind of work to be presented as acceptable product. I suggest a calm but determined approach to more senior management. I'm disapppointed that Kubota allowed this to happen but hope someone will step up to the plate for you. Best of luck.

Yeah, I understand its a tractor and its going to get beat up. Well then those people who dont care about the scratches and ect should of bought a used tractor. Thats the point of buying new, ITS NEW! You paid good money for a tractor and deserve it blemish free. The other guy said it best. Let the guys who do give a hoot have it and you get the perfect one. Everyone who says they dont care might feel a little differently if they were on your end, only some though. A lot of people dont care and they treat their tractor that way too, like the dont care! not me....

Oh, and i wouldnt want a repainted rim. Factory paint will hold up much better than a rattle can repaint job. In the long run it would look worst, better off just using touch up thinned and a toothpick so it flows out...

Sorry to hear about the problems you have had. I agree, if you spend that much cash you expect things to be perfect. That being said, my wife would argue that I am less than perfect, but she (hopefully) would not trade me in for a few dents! At least your getting some free spray paint! All kidding aside I hope you dealer fixes your problem! Don't forget to wax your rims!!!!!

Try whatever you can to get it dealt with while its still possible. I regret not fighting harder to correct the poor finishing of my flatdeck. The manufactures should want you to be satisfied, and I dont know how some things pass QC. Although just "little things", bandaman took the words right out of my mouth and those things will always "tick you off"

I see a few of you are having a good laugh....that's ok.....many others see exactly what my issue is and I can tell you understand where I'm coming from. I work dang hard and I like to buy quality stuff and am willing to pay more for it....If I didn't care what my machine looks like, I could have found a used Murray to mow my yard with for $250. I bought my tractor to work my property, but ultimately this new machine is an expensive luxury toy and I could have easily used the money for something else.

I'm just getting sick of watching the quality of products continue to go down and everyone wondering why this country is in so much trouble.....I cannot count the number of times where I bent over backwards to help the customer, to make them happy, and to keep their business. Yea, it cost me some money, but I cannot put a price on what amount of long term business I saved by doing the right thing. Now its my turn to be the customer and get what I expect and what I paid for.

This machine is a fancy toy and sits right next to my tricked out boat and my custom built ATVs in my fully finished and heated "toy box" garage on the epoxied floor. Yea, Maybe I expect a little more then most....If I was running a landscaping business and having 8 different guys run this machine each day or if I was spreading manure, maybe things would be different, but still, why is sub-par quality ok ever....period.

I currently have no issue with my dealer unless they caused the scratches....My salesman has been pleasant and helpful thus far. I gave him one chance to come up with solutions and his answer to send me a can spray paint is unacceptable. Now I'm giving them another chance to take care of this. I have asked for a new wheel and a new loader and if the salesman cannot make it happen, I asked him to have the owner contact me so we can discuss. This is a very big dealer that sells a lot of Kubotas, if he wants to help me, I think he can. I do not see any reason why the Kubota rep cannot policy credit the cost to the dealer to ship another loader in and they can use mine on a unit going to a less particular buyer like a school district or something.

As far as being a pain-in-the-*** customer.....I don't see it like that...only asking for what I paid for in new condition, nothing more. If a tractor salesman cannot appreciate that, then I guess he will have to sell a few more $250,000 combines to make up for his aggravating home owner customers, or pick a different line of work.

I looked at several new B26's, less than 2hrs; and noticed a big difference between the same vehicals. Paint peeling, wires not plugged in, squealing hydrolic's, and poor welds and spatter. I went to the dealer with the cleanest machine and haggled. Got what I wanted and felt good about it. Rarely in life do I buy or agree to accept something sight unseen. You've just learned why.

Study batch manufacturing and you'll learn why some production runs go to some dealers, and why premium runs go to others.

Do you wax your tactor and use tire black on the wheels?

Spatted, while ugly really isn't that big of a deal, worry about under-cut and cold beads.....now thats something to b*tch about.

I'm the same way; I want to see it first. However, when I bought my B2710, I looked at the tractor on the dealer's lot, but he had to order a front end loader and it took a couple of weeks to get it. And I was having them install an Ag Wells Company canopy that I did not see.

It so happened that the dealer was also one of my brother's Matco Tool customers, so one day my brother called and told me he had just seen my tractor with the front end loader and that they were touching up the paint to deliver it the next day.

So I don't know what the front end loader looked like when the dealer got it, but I didn't find a blemish on anything when it was delivered the next day. And I don't even know where they "touched up" the paint.

I guess in the overall scheme of things, it might not be a big deal, but I'm afraid I'd feel much like BANDAMAN. I just would not expect a dealer to deliver one looking like that.

Looked to be all dealer prep issues. (except the welding)

The heart of the issue is that Bandaman didn't take the time to inspect at the dealer when HE had the power ($$$$). There is a reason it's called pre-acceptance check off when a piece of industrial equipment is purchased.

Then again, they may have carved out all the normal dealer prep to give you a lower price. Pay more get more, pay less get less. I don't know the details, at this point nobody does. But Kubota is getting a black eye from the bad press and THEY should be helping more.

yeah I told the dealer with the worse machine I wasn't being or didn't mean to be prissy, but felt that if the outside of the machine looked bad then the inside or prep might be lacking too....and passed.

I do regret not inspecting the machine better at pickup.....guess I was naive to think that if I was ordering something brand new, I would not have to worry about things like scratches that might occur from handling at the dealer if one that been around the lot for awhile. Just like picking up a new pickup or a TV set....if its new, its new, right?? wrong, I guess.

I picked it up a on a very bad weather day and probably was not totally focused on inspecting the machine, just really didn't occur to me to go over it closely. My main concern was that is was the correct machine with the correct accessories that we had agreed upon. We had an ice storm and the roads very bad...it took me over 2 hrs to make the 40 or so mile trip...Maybe if it was a bright sunny day, I would have taken some time to study the machine out in the daylight, and also would not have been so quick to try and make the trip back home before it got worse.

As usual, many "minor" things can add up to a big mess.....I'm asking for one minor thing (wheel) and one major thing (loader) to be rectified.....anything else, I can tolerate. I am anxious to see what they have to say, and hopeful that the dealer will see where I am coming from and try to make a stand on quality issues with Kubota so they don't have to deal with future complaints.
