My primary dealer charges for pick up and delivery. They are very transparent with their pricing so I have no problem paying it. My secondary dealer does not charge for delivery but are always priced higher and is not transparent on what I am paying for. I prefer to see what I am paying for and don't mind pay for a quality service that is hassle free.

As a rule, a new sale does not incur a delivery charge. I never charged when I was selling tractors. Also, usually didn't charge for warranty hauling.

I did have a Kubota required update on an RTV1140 utility vehicle. Took about 15 minutes to do. Drove about 140 miles one way. Didn't charge customer anything. Even got to stop in Winslow AZ for lunch with my future wife.

I doubt many dealers if any actually transport for "free". They have to pay for the truck, trailer and the person to trailer it somehow so they will either charge a transportation fee or they will make it up in the cost of service or the price of the new machine.

Well, obviously the money to pay for it has to come from somewhere, but the increased customer satisfaction can drive future sales both of that customer and others via review/recommendation, and the net result can easily be that the dealer sells machines at the same price as a less acccomodating dealer with the same or greater net income.

The margins may be lower as a result, but with increased sales, the overall net can be higher.

Holy cow. People spend $80,000 on a truck, and they dont get free towing for repairs. I dont recall ever having warranty work done on anything that included free transportation for repair.

That's why i have a flatbed trailer.

Delivery for my machine was free, but anything past that is a $100 fee. When I brought my tractor in for warrantee work I rented a trailer, it was about $80 and beat the piss out of my truck- I just gave the dealer $100 for the return trip.

Is it common practice for a dealer to charge for trucking to deliver a new tractor and pick up the trade in? 6 months ago i traded in my Massey Ferguson 1533 for a new Kioti 4210 se HST. The reason I got it was I was tired of plowing snow with no cab, I’m getting too old for ruffling it in the cold.

A month ago there was a problem with the fuel gage on working. I was told It was under warranty and that there would be no charge to fix it …..but it would cost $200 for trucking. Then I just had a problem with a bad fuel water sensor. Again it was under warranty and it would cost $200 for trucking. I ended up fixing both of these problem myself. The fuel level sensor I didn’t have to pay for but the fuel water sensor I had to pay for with the stipulation that since I would intall it would not be under warranty.

This dealer is really piss’n me off and I wonder what they would do if there was a major problem with the tractor. They are so inconsistent with their cheapness.
Yep, common. My dealer charges $200 to haul tractors. UNTIL I remind them about all the stuff I buy and guilt them in to doing it for free.
But then, they probably just mark up the bills anyway, LOL

No fee for delivery for me, but I'm only 15 minutes away. A bit longer now that the roads have washed out, but that's temporary.

I wouldn't expect them to cover trucking for warranty work.

They did come to my place one time to fix something for free after I described it on the phone.

I'm pretty happy with my dealer, small family run shop in a no stop light town. Good communication back and forth and I also picked up a UTV from them.
