Tractor
Kubota BX24
Brand new owner of new BX24. I noticed when I left the lock pin out of the BH last night it tilted back about 3 to 4 " by this am. Is that just normal or should I be concerned about something. Wasn't much of a change in temp overnight.

Yes, that's normal. I used to keep a nylon strap around the outriggers so they wouldn't droop, and hit something. :)

One way to prevent this is to lower the BH Bucket to the ground when parking the tractor for the day which probably should be done anyway for safety reasons.
Let my BX23 set over nite and the BH bucket will be on the ground.
Perfectly normal.
My rite staplizer will settle about an inch no matter how long the tractor sets but the left one never moves.
The MMM will settle also.
I make rasing the MMM Staplelizers and positioning the BH a mandatory procedure before moving the tractor.

I haven't used the lock pin in years. Even Kubota discourages it. :)

Why? It's recommended in the manual for when you're driving on the road.

Leaving pressure on any hydraulic system for an extended time might not be good for your seals and hoses. I always lower mine to the ground when I park the tractor.

Ok I agree with that but the pin has all the pressure on it not the hydraulic seals and hoses after they bleed down a little. Besides I don't have enough room in the garage to drop the bucket all the time. I'm lucky I can get in there sometimes.

My understanding is that the locking pin is designed for use while traveling long distances (driving to your brother's place so he can use it) or while trailering, not necessarily when you park it at home.

Let me dig out my manual. Might take a couple of days.

It surprised me too when I read it. I never use it anymore.

It's really no big deal. I don't have a brother who would borrow it and it will probably never move more than 1 mile from my house. Snowmobile trails at the worst. It's just that nothing else moves when I leave it except the boom on the BH.

Concur on all points. I always use the boom lock on mine. I park it in the middle bay of my garage and to lower the boom to the ground would mean less 'walkaround' room. If I'm working for a couple of hours without the boom locked up, it actually droops substantially while the tractor is in use. I'll bleed down the bucket (very little weight/impact) and, of course, the FEL...but the boom stays up unless I'm using it.

I leave mine in. Space isn't an issue since I store mine outside. I can't see how leaving the pins in has any adverse effect but what the heck do I know...
