If you find it's binding, or results in your hitch running wonky, I'd try staightening the rod section. Block up the yoke with a piece of steel that just fit between the "ears" & clamp it up good in a heavy vise, squeezing the block between the ears so the ears don't deform and giving you a nice, square shape to grip. Heat the rod section, where you want the rod straightened, with oxy-acetylene to dull red color in a shaded work area. Apply force to the free end and play the heat where you want the rod to straighten, then let it air cool. Should be nearly as good as new.
