I just noticed a weeping of oil on the drivers side of my BX25 (400 hrs). I'm guessing this is the front axle seal everyone keeps talking about, would this be the case and do you think it's a simply DIY project? If so I'll have to buy a pair of o-ring pliers but what other tools will I need? I've searched and can't seem to find a BX25 owner on here that's done this, would be great to see some pics of the project. Thanks everyone.

Did you get it fixed? I have the same problem except the leak is on the passenger side. Have 500 hours on it.

Hey gang. I just fixed my two BX25 Front Axle Seals. I posted a video on YouTube but owe most of the credit to 4Shorts for his video doing the same. For a DIY'er I think most folks will be able to get through this as long as you have a few tools on hand.

4shorts is one of a couple geniuses we have on this site. Look up his other Kubota mods.

How hard was it to pull bevel gear off?

I couldent figure how spindle came out and didn't change mine when I did my trunion seals.
I was thiking of tapping it and using some jack screws to push it off.

Switching to 80W90 should stop the leak. SUDT is some mighty thin stuff.

I know this is an old thread, but being a new owner of a BX1860 about to do a full fluid change I have been wondering about the extremes of viscosity of the lubricants specified for the front axle... 80W90 as opposed to a thin hydraulic fluid. I haven't really found a good reason for the disparity so was going to use the same fluid as the HST (my local dealer only stocks UDT not SUDT which seems to be common for Australia from what I've read elsewhere)... I may now reconsider and go for 80W90.

Is there any overwhelming argument for using UDT??

Cheers,
Pete
