IS THIS TRACTOR WORTH $4500.00 ?

Hello, This a 3000 Ford diesel w/ a loader and a 6 foot used bush hog. The guy is asking $4500.00
for everything. The tractor runs good and the loader works good.
I am not a Ford guy and really don't know much about them.

My question is, do you think the tractor is worth the price $4500.00 ?
I would appreciate your help on this one before I buy.

I looked it up on machinery trader and there were a few 3000 on it for around 5000 without any attachment. Offer the guy 3500 and see what he says.

I looked at one last spring for 4200 with no loader and no hog. It sold. It also depends if the stain under it is from a leak.

No he is firm on 4500.00, he was wanting 5000.00.

The stain on the concrete is not from this tractor, when I looked it over it had no leaks.

I would say that the price is high; what age is it; looks early '70's. Like anything, supply and demand. If that tractor is in deman for small or hobby farms, and there is not many around, price is^..

In 1985, I bought a 1964 Ford 2000 with a 5'ft woods and FEL for $3500. Had it 22 years, no money into it except 2 new front tires, sold it 22 years later for the same $$$. Guy drove down about 300 miles from NY to buy it. Like I said, supply and demand.

That would be fair for this part of the country, I've seen several sell for that without loaders.

It's a Ford 3000. The x000 and x600 series were some of the best tractors ever made.
It's a diesel, and I can tell from the pics, it has power steering. Another plus.

Point is, as others have said, the tractor would probably bring that kind of price, even without the loader and the hog.

If it is what you want, perhaps offer this;

"Ok, $4500.00 is fair and I will take it if you put a new OE seat on it,
replace the lower front body panel and provide me w/ a full
set of filters and enough oil to service the whole unit and
were good to go."

Now settle for him just giving you the parts and you do the deeds.
DO NOT take possession till you have the goods IN HAND.

That is a good price for that tractor around here. The tractor would be worth $4000 or a little less by itself in Indiana. Add the loader and hog it should be a good buy. Word of caution though, check the tires and wheels carefully. My buddy bought a used tractor that vintage and long story short in the first year he changed all 4 tires and all 4 wheels from rot. It had calcium in them. It cost him $1800 for the tires and wheels so its not cheap.

PS, BE SURE to fire it up and let it warm up completly
and exercise every last function. Put weight in the bucket
too! Check it out good! If they will not let it warm up RUN!
Heck bring a gallon of diesel w/ you too!
