I do agree with the comment that it is probably stronger but looking at it strictly as cosmetic it will cheapen the look of my "John Deere". It will be more for the original cast piece but again I really don't want to have my $16,000 tractor look like it was a homemade cobbled repair versus an original . I don't see anyone putting home made bumpers on their new cars just because they are stronger. Guess I'm trying to make a point but not sure if I did.

Just confirming that the cast piece is what broke. The large hole where the pins go through is missing a piece out of the corner. Guess I should have taken better pics

What loader is it? The 430? I never saw the cast shoes on the 420's or 430's before-only the newer 200-300-400 loaders.

So, IF you have a 430...and went to the dealer and asked for that part for a 430 then you indeed got the correct (and better IMHO) part. The cast shoes are made in CHINA, the welded ones aren't.

Are you the original owner?

I think what we are not seeing is that the four bar linkage goes outside the cast version, and inside the fabricated plate version. It would be nice if both quick couplers were of the same design. When things are not symmetrical, that is when they look bad. I would try to buy two that match for a discounted price.
Maybe a used cast one could be found somewhere? As others have said, I would think the fabricated coupler would be more forgiving.

It is a 2005 JD4410 with a 430 loader. Both mine are cast . I am not the original owner. Yes, the new part will not break as easily but looks like s--t. Now it doesn't even look like the other side. If I order a new part should it not look like the old. It is not a well crafted piece but rather something someone slaps together. Hardly what I would expect from JD.

Ok, I just checked JD parts-did you verify the S/N of you loader? The show both styles...Not JD's fault.

No I didn't see that when ordering. I see it is even cheaper. Thanks so much for pointing out my error. Hopefully they will exchange the part. Knew I asked the right guy.

I don't think they look bad, if you have one of each then yeah must look a little odd. You should get 2 the same. Being made of steel they can be repaired easily now or reinforced if desired.

I would look into free replacements, I think I was not the only one to get free ones especially if they broke. It is in fact a serious safety issue. you roll back a raised bucket with broken keepers and you could end up with that buck on your lap!!!

I could not find the S/N that corresponds to the serial numbers posted on jdparts but the pics on the images tell me the story. I thank everyone for there comments. That's why I love this site. Always lots of good info and good advice. Regained my faith in JD.

Yes, they replaced a LOT of them. It's definitely worth asking them to help cover the part(s).
