yanmar YM-1700
;)Another CL Yanmar Bargin... Not! I won't bother to link to the Ad although I would like to ask just how much do we think our Yanmar Tractors are worth?
This person has a package deal with itemized items listed,
in the Atlanta CL
Yanmar YM-1700 Tractor Package With Trailer!

This Package Includes:
1. Yanmar YM-1700 22HP Diesel Tractor With 3-Point Hitch and PTO
2. 3 and a Half Foot Rotary Cutter
3. Scrape Blade
4. 16 Foot Dual Axle Electric Brake Trailer With Ramps
5. Drawbar
6. 1 Year Warranty! all for $ 6891

..........
the way I see it if take the trailer value of say! 1200 & attachments of 1300 add together their value at most comes to 2500.... leaving the price for the tractor estimating $4400 and this being a ym-1700 not the most sought after of Yanmars,
 here in the south tractors might not have the same value as those in other parts of the country, but still I know what I paid for mine and it was certainly not 4400 bucks ;) actually was less than half of this, I suppose the markup comes with the 1 year warranty given,:confused2:
BTW if anyone thinks this is a good Package deal I can do one better;)
How bout my 1700 with 4 ft bush cutter,4 ft box scrape,5 ft disc harrows, and a FEL all loaded on a trailer for 5000:D

I seen that also. Sure was very similar to Spalding's add in Ga. The difference was everything New and Refurbished. to Used with a Loader for the same price.

Seems a little steep to me. I bought dozens of nice 1700,s for $1500 each wholesale, not so long ago. Ken Sweet

I think YM1700 is a sleeper, a model worth more than the discounted prices they go for.

I have the next larger model, YM240 (YM2000) and I virtually never run it at full output. YM1700 would do everything I need.

As I understand it YM1700/YM2000 are near twins with the only difference cylinder bore size and tire size, plus maybe gear ratios. YM1700 lacks a water pump but since it will output full hp without one, this difference is irrelevant.

Has anyone owned both? What was your experience?

Good point made... I think with the 1700 having more steel around the cylinder bore might be why it can have better heat tolerance and not require a water pump and is less susceptible to cracking a cylinder wall if over heated, I never could be sure as to why anyone would build a water cooled engine and not have a water pump to circulate the water, But hey it works! I have now run my tractor for over 1 year with no overheating issues, although I do keep a close watch on the water level but never a drop low or had to add any,and also keep the Rad screen cleaned off, all-in-all been a darn good little tractor,
But still if I had 4-5000 bucks to spend on a tractor it would have been for a 25+HP,;) I was on a budget when Buying my 1700, I was trying to only spend and get the most for what I got out of the sale of My previous smaller kubota, I thought I did real good for scoring the 1700 for 2100 bucks, although I did have to re-paint/recondition some things about it, but I'd be safe to say I got no more than 2500 in the tractor alone;)

I picked up a 2 year old double axle trailer 8000 gross with elect brakes a couple of months ago for 800 bucks off from craigslist. Up here in the PNW the Yanmars seem to bring a higher price, but that is still a little high.

I saw a month or so ago a yanmar in the ATL area that was a VN recon i think and the guy had had it a year or more and had all the stuff like 4 ft cutter ym2000 maybe a boxblade, a trailer and i think a yanmar tiller. After discounting a reasonable price for each additional, you could buy a reconditioned tractor with a 1 year warrenty from spaliding for cheaper? What are some thinking, that they buy something and use it and it actually apreciate? I know in some folks cases by scoring a deal and an ugly tractor and putting $65 worth of paint on it and then reseling they could get a deal, but if u buy a tractor you can almost count on getting less or the same as you paid for it.

I could see starting out asking a premium price for it if we were in a good healthy economy, But as it is now there are many folks cannot afford to even keep their tractors and are selling them off at a low low prices for quick cash due to the hurting economy, loss of job, Bills, etc, etc, .... Although who knows! someone who still has money to burn and not knowledgeable about the value of any given tractor may well pay his price, if so good for him:thumbsup: But I think there should be a ( Used Tractor Value ) worth chart available for the tractor buyer and Seller to go by as reference of value, just as the NADA or Kelly's BB for cars and trucks, I've read on the net something similar to this but more of what the individual has paid, not really a real time value,

The problem with this is that those prices are so wrong once things get to a certain age. They allow for continuing depreciation with there depreciation equation, seems there is no bottom or it is very low. My pooint is if NADA valued tractors ours would list for $1200, which would be worse than no list.

IE. My boat has a 1981 johnson 60 hp motor on it. It runs like a sewing machine is smooth, starts easy etc. This motor is worth a quick sale of $600 easy i think. NADA says $200-300. I paid $350 for a foot when mine tore up, i know the foot alone is worth $200.

IE 2 When i bought my K10 6 years ago they were around $3k-3.5k over what people were selling them for at that time in my area. Since then they tanked about $1-1.5k cause of fuel. But anyhow at that time they valued the truck at $1200 or something i think. The motor might sell for $300-500 east Tranny another $300 Tcase (np205) $300-500. New tires and rims on it (33x12.50) an easy $400 (when i bought it i bet they did not have 1k miles on them). Axles $250. See where im getting there prices do not reflect actual sales my truck was selling for around $3k double what i think they listed it at?

This site started a tractor price database a couple of years ago. Search around - it's in here somewhere.

Yeah I think this is where I might had went to try and find reference when time for me to buy another tractor, also to find out what the tractor I had at that time was worth, didn't list a Kubota L-140 series, and all info I find regarding prices for the ym varied up to thousands of dollars, I think was actually folks listing the prices they paid for their tractors, No real retail pricing was advised,
