Iseki -- Massey

I am looking at an 1190... trying to determine engine and thus parts availability... Tractor book has early'90s with Toyosha changing to Isuzu in 94. I understand the Toyosha might have parts problems, but any thoughts on the Isuzu? Thanks...

I think that Tractor book is wrong. As far as I know, all 1100 series were made by Iseki and had Iseki engines in them. I have never seen a MF sold Iseki with a Isuzu engine. I think that all Isuzu engine tractors were made for the Japanese market and would be gray market tractors in this country. Iseki never used any Toyosha engines that I have seen or heard of. The MFs that had Toyosha engines were made by Hinomoto.

I used to own a Massey 1160 that had a 41 horsepower 4 cylinder direct injection Isuzu diesel. The tractor was made by Iseki, as I recall the shop manual was for an 1160 and an 1165, according to the maunal the 1165 had an iseki motor.

That was one fine tractor, I thought the gear transmission would be more work. Now I have a Kubota BX1500 with HST. I do like the HST, although the Kubota is considerably smaller.
I think the gear transmission suits the larger tractors better.

In my opinion Isuzu make one fine diesel motor, I would not hesitate to own another Isuzu. I believe the 1190 is turbo charged, I think somewhere I read where it's a good idea to let turbo charged diesels idle for 5 to 10 minutes before shutting down, especially on hot days where the engine temperature could be high.
I attached a picture of my old steed.
Hope this helps.
Tom

The local Co-op sells Mustang skid loaders and they have Izusu diesels in them. The shop foreman says they never have trouble with those engines. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Does anyone know if there is a MF equivalent to the 1900-TL Iseki?

Hey Jerry, I know this is an old post but old stuff can be new stuff when we have a new problem. My engine was sabotaged (sugared or water or both) and all the rings seized and my pistons are scratched. Well, anyway, I ordered a shop manual and kept running across the E3CD engine number for my Iseki engine. My tractor, by the way, is a Massey 1250. However, on my engine block it says E3AD1, which according to your info, is an 1140. Do you think I have the right engine for my tractor? Another question, for anyone out there really, where can a man find a good engine overhaul kit that won't break me up? I'd need gaskets, bearings, pistons and rings. Thanks.

Is you 1250 from 1992-1996 or 7? If it is I don't have a engine manual. My Iseki engine manual is dated 1999 and seems to show that all 1250s at least from that date forward has Iseki E series engines. When I spoke to Iseki Corp., they also insinuated that all 1250s were Iseki powered and that they didn't use Isuzu engines any more. I almost hesitate to say any of this because there was a slight commutation problem.
All that I know is that none of my manuals show the E3AD1 in any 1250, but it does appear that all "E" series engines are Iseki engines. Someone could have replaced the E3CD.

I am going to Japan next week do you want me to get you a price on a used engine? My list is showing 3 of the E3AD1 engines available. The only problem is they won’t be here for two months. Let me know

I do apologize for not showing up here for "years"???. Since here last I've gotten rid of my old wife and got me a new one. Still got the old Massey 1250 though. Since posting last, I've, with help, overhauled the engine. Overhaul kits are not as expensive as I initially thought. After everything was put back together, I ended up in the hospital and didn't get to hear the first startup. My brother and friend, however, did and they said it got red hot almost immediately. They think it's the water pump. What do you guys think? At least, it's been in my garage, out of the weather for the last couple years. I don't remember if I mentioned in the other posts, but my Massey is a 1992 model 1250 with an E3AD1 Iseki engine, Serial #207226. Please post your opinions on why it's getting hot and I promise to check back more often.
