Iseki vs Shibaura engines on Massey Premium Compact

I have a small Iseki tractor. It treats me much better than I treat it.

My son still uses the Bolens(Iseki) 21 HP tractor that I bought in the mid 70's. No major problems other than replacing the clutch about 20 yrs ago, and replaced water pump bearings once.

The new Massey premium tractors are back with Iseki engines. My uncle has an older Iseki Massey and that is running good. I have a Shibarua in my TC40 and love the engine. I am wondering why Massey stopped building with Shibaura?

The only reason I am asking is that the Iseki has less PTO HP than the similiar Shibaura engines in the previous Massey premium line. Should this be a concern? The new Iseki's will handle my current equipment with the PTO HP. Just wondering why it is less and is Iseki just as good as a Shibaura?

The primary reason M-F left a partnership with Shibaura is Shibaura was selling to other mayor manufactures, & would not give the commitment or dedication that they needed. Iseki had at the time a good partnership with M-F on cuts, & scuts, & were glad to make the commitment, & dedication that M-F needed, & it has been a very successful partnership for both Iseki, & Massey-Ferguson since.

Iseki makes a wonderful engine. It's right there with Yanmar and Kubota as far as toughness and longevity.

I agree with all comments. I've owned both and I would only give Shibaura a slight edge as an easier winter starting engine than Iseki.

I also agree they are as good as Yanmar and Kubota.

Shibaura starts almost as easy as Yanmar in winter.

The TC40 is a ford/NH tractor.They were built by Shibaura. Haven't heard of TC40 massey. The earlier Massey compacts were built by Hinomoto with Toyosha engines. The latter ones were built by Iseki.
