Why did you sell it? I remember you searching for the perfect rig and setting it up the way you wanted.

Chris

Turned 73 years old this month. Selling the 10 acre ranch/farm. Getting rid of the old tractors. Don't need the NPR any more. Moving to town.

Had a 1997 w4 that I used for a landscape truck. Loved how maneuverable it was. Would haul anything you could load on it, but slow. Mine was a 4cyl diesel that I sold with 220000 miles on it. Still ran and drove great.

Here is a link to a thread I started on my forum with more about the truck I recently bought, if you want to read a little more about it.

I need advise on a truck purchase

Thanks for the link - that must have hurt to have needed a big repair shortly after buying it. I've always avoided the newer diesels for fear of expensive repairs but they seem to be the only way to go if you need to move some weight.

Both have the diesels in them. Absolutely love the trucks! If you can handle a work truck interior, a little rough riding from time to time, and limited towing capacity it would work well.

Kyle

The towing capacity might kill the deal - I'm still digging into that. I'd like to be able to tow a 10k enclosed trailer, or a 12k flatbed, but I'm getting into f450 territory if I'd be running the truck fully loaded and pulling a loaded trailer.

I've only purchased HINO trucks. Hinos are made by Toyota, enough said. My oldest one is a 1995 200K miles and I've never spend a dime on repairs, other than fluids, wipers, brakes tires. Not on thing has ever worn out, broke, failed to operate as designed. I could go on and on, but the mechanic that talked me into Hinos was trained by Hino in South America where a Hino rep " lived" with the guy for one year before approving him to work on Hinos.

I'm a city boy who moved to the farm late in life. Been on my 10 acres for the past 10 years. Got much enjoyment out of turning a pasture full of weeds into a nice place to live. I'm 73 now. Time to move on before I stop moving altogether. I sold a pile of implements the past 4 days. The buyer will haul the MF124 baler away today.

I sold the place two days ago. It was on the market for 36 hours before a good offer was made and I accepted. Escrow opened that day. My place has pretty good eye appeal.

The tractors listed in my profile go on Craigslist tomorrow (I'll sleep on the asking prices tonight before listing).

Well, good luck to you. I find it hard to part with old iron. Thanks for your "service" on TBN.

Thanks.

It's not as hard as I thought to find new homes for old iron. I sold four tractors yesterday (the MM/BF, JD B, Farmall Cub parts tractor and the Oliver 60) to a local dealer after less than a week of advertising on CL.

He brought his two sons (grade school age) along for the pickup. Both of the boys have a pretty good case of tractor fever and knew all about those ancient tractors which they now own. From my viewpoint that deal couldn't have turned out better.

I looked at a pair of trucks today - '02 W5500 and an '07 Sterling cabover (a mistubishi collaboration). The GMC is an 18', 18k gvr truck with 189k for $14k, the sterling is a 14k gvw 16 footer with only 102k on it, priced at 18k.

Didn't have time to drive either but started them both and crawled around. They're definitely "fleet" trucks - cheap seating and controls. But the cabs are roomy and little things like 90 degree opening doors and roof vent are nice features.

I think the 4500 has too many miles although its a pretty clean truck with a really nice box. (that 18 footer is roomy!). It started ok in the 30 degree temps, but the Sterling seemed mechanically in better shape. Going to have to do some homework on the Sterlings.

I thought i found a deal earlier this week and nearly bought a '14 Ram 3500 stakebed new off the lot...But when I got serious with the dealer, suddenly the price jumped from the advertised $31k to nearly $35,000. Their explanation? "A typo on the website" - which I might add hasn't been corrected yet.

Its nice to see the old scams haven't died off in this modern age ;)
