I think that I will have to wail for a few hours before having
breakfast because then the fender on my truck will be hot
enough to cook on :ROFLMAO:

then you know who the boss was in your parents house
Unfortunately, yes. But my father wasn't an a-hole and would have gladly seen us comfortable in the heat of south Texas.

We finally got some rain and the following day (yesterday) was in the mid 70s so we mowed the property. Dark clouds were upon me as I finished up and it started raining as I was done blowing off the Toolcat. Life is good. All we need is a few weeks of these daily rains to get us out of the drought.

Because you did a survey of all Texas fathers in the past 50 years? Rather be in Texas than Fidel Castro's love child country.

There have been a few allusions to AC making us soft, in the last several pages.

A/C does make people soft. People get used to the temperature they are around on a daily basis. I set the thermostat in the house so that I don't feel hot or cold when I am inside, it ends up in the upper 70s in the summer and the middle 60s in the winter as I spend a lot of time outside year-round. Places that keep their thermostat at 72 F all year round feel cold in the summer and hot in the winter to me. However, a lot of people any more very rarely are more than a couple degrees away from 72 F at any time of the year and get very used to that. They will complain if they have to walk 50 feet from their car into a building and the outside temp is below 65 in the winter or above the upper 70s in the summer.

The other thing that has changed a lot since the old days is that people are far heavier than they used to be and many don't do much physical activity other than going the few feet between the couch and the fridge. Both of those things make people intolerant to heat or cold.
