It doesn\'t add up...

The UDT in my B2710 was fried yesterday when it ran for about 5 hours with the parking brake on. (That's a whole other story.)

I bought this tractor used with 201 hours on it, and the UDT level was high on the dipstick. I thought somebody might have checked it with the loader up or something like that and over filled.

The dealer advised just draining it down to the acceptable level.

Haven't been able to measure how much fluid came out today (will try to get to it tomorrow). But I filled exactly half a liter shy of spec, and the level is way high on the dipstick again.

Which way would you go?

Hi slim!

I'm not familiar with your machine, but mine has a sight glass on the tranny where I just need to see fluid to know I'm within acceptable range. I know that's an obvious feature to point out, but perhaps you haven't checked for it yet or weren't told about it by the seller. I would imagine that if you drained it completely, changed the filter and filled it to spec, you really shouldn't be wrong. I'd probably get nervous and call a dealer to be sure. Good luck!

I have a B2910. The dip stick is a pain to read. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

If I try to read it after the tractor has been run it will show nothing. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

After sticking it back in and removing it the reading is above the full mark. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I gave a lot of thought to removing the oil then remembered how much I paid for Super UDT. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I have left it with the high reading. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I have had no leaks or problems with the high level. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yours may be higher than mine and need draining. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

You know, that might just approach world record status... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Now I'm going to feel a lot better about those time I did that for a minute or so... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Just to make all the rest of us feel better...does your parking brake still work?

Hope all is well...

Re: It doesn\'t add up...

Two things,

1. my B2710 will not move at all, just whine, if the parking brake is on.

2. I always leave my fluid on the high side. I found that a cup of fluid +/- will make a difference on the dipstick.

I have over 900 hrs on mine.

Re: It doesn\'t add up...

Well, yes... Henro... possibly a world record, but it pales in comparison to the world record a** kicking a certain young man received. "Did you notice the smell? Did it occur to you that you might be making the smell?" And other questions not fit to print.

There's still brake there, but I suspect the pads are a little thin by now. That'll be a winter project.

Ironic, isn't it? If the tractor had sat there whining, I wouldn't be sitting here whining.

Cheers,

Slim

if you find the hydro filter clogging, then the brake linings have gone to dust..... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Re: It doesn\'t add up...

I have discovered it is best to put the parking brake on firmly or not at all. If on firmly it will just whine when you try to move, if on half-way it may whine a little more than usual but you might not notice and drive around long enough to do some damage. It seems like it would be a great idea for Kubota to put a large red indicator light on the dash to let you know anytime the parking brake is not completely released, especially since these are wet brakes and the damage will likely be expensive and difficult to repair..

I changed the udt on my l3010 the sight glass was at the okay mark. I put back what I took out. it was about 2gal less than what the book said. Larry

When a manufacturers manual is wrong it's a real confidence builder. I like the parking brake light idea.
