My brother got one AC Delco out of four from a skidder where he worked, the other three were fried but that one has been in the B414 international for 12 years and who knows how long it was in the skidder before that. Oh and by the way that old girl cuts the grass at the farm in the summer and it has no alternator or generator we just bring up to the house every fall to charge the battery.

The best thing you can do for your batteries is disconnect them when not in use or like we do just install the big battery disconnect switches in everything.

Jay Leno claims that the original 1909 batteries in his Baker electric car still work. They are not Lead Acid however. They are an alkaline battery with Nickle and Iron plates with Potassium Hydroxide for n electrolyte. They were called an Edison cell in the day. They are noted for extremely long life. He did mention they have been cleaned out a few times and new electrolyte put in, I assume they probably have lost a lot of capacity due to plate loss.

Kinda off topic but have you guys ever used those maintenance chargers. The trickle chargers you put on like a boat battery in the winter when you store your boat. Ive ruined 2 batteries using those things. What do you guys do when putting up a battery for the winter.
I use the (battery tender brand) trickle charger on boat,3 tractors, and Kubota RTV and never had any battery issues using them.Just changed my 2006 Kubota RTV battery out this year.It was a Deka brand an I replaced it with the same Deka.

My kubota battery lasted from 2000 to 2012. When it died, the engine was running (jump started to get snow moved), but....

IT WOULDN'T SHUT OFF !

If that ever happens to you, the key off position momentarily activates a solenoid to shut off fuel to the injection pump. No battery juice, the solenoid doesn't activate and the engine keeps on keeping on.Thankfully, there is a manual engine stop pull. It's not a big deal, but sort of surprises one when it happens.

My Toyota Tundra battery lasted 12.5 years and my John Deere GT225 battery just turned 13 years old and is still going strong. Now my JD 2720 battery only lasted 4.5 years.

I had truck battery that lasted 12 plus years. It seemed like it was getting weak so I replaced it before getting stranded. Asked the battery place how old it was and was stunned that it was the original battery.
